Tomorrow night should be a classic baseball game with Pedro Martinez facing Roger Clemens in New York in the deciding game. Winner gets to beat the snot out of the overacheiving Marlins. I'm going to be a nervous wreck hugging my pillow and hoping that Pedro can beat those evil New York bastards. Please, please, please win Pedro. Hit one out Manny.
Anyone else give a shit about this game? |

A guy at the bar asked me who one today's game earlier tonight. He cares. As for me, I couldn't answer him or you.

Try as I might, I cannot be interested in sports in the least.
I wouldn't mind playing them sometimes; I shooting hoops every now and again. I'm like, the only person I know who doesn't give a rat's ass that the Tennessee Vols lost their game the other night. |

Hey Darwin,
I'm with you on that. When the Yanks took a two run lead, my heart sank. I almost turned the tube off, but I stuck it through. Thank god Nomar finally came around. This has been such a rollercoaster series for me to watch. I hope Pedro brings it too. Go Sox!!

I suppose the baseball fans here caught Billy Corgan leading "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" during the 7th inning at Chicago. Had forgotten he's a big fan. Poor cubs. Baseball can be soooo painful. |

I was born and raised to be a Red Sox fan. My father has already outlived his father and his youngest brother, both lost to heart failure in their late 40's. Okay, his middle brother has already had 2 heart attacks.
If the goddamn Red Sox do not when this fucking game, my dad is going to die. Get it? My fucking father will die if the Sox don't win.
Argh! This fucking game is too important.
So to answer the original question, yeah, I do care about this game, my fucking father's life de-fucking-pends on it. Sorry if I sound mad, I just really need the Sox to win this one...
Or I will be
and
Pedro must prevail. Down with the wicked Yankee's and the Red Sox traitors. Babe Ruth, Wade Boggs, and motherfucking Roger Clemens.
Hey Roger, if you're reading this (0.01 % chance) suck a fat one, you fuck head : )

Baseball is the only sport I've ever been able to become passionate about. Red Sox, as I'm from Boston, better win! |

Great! We've got the passion (let it out LBF). It's funny sitting knowing that later tonight I'm either going to be very, very happy or in a deep funk. If the Red Sox win I'm going to have a silly grin on face until the World Series starts.
And, beating (roughing up, pummeling) that fat head Clemens will make it even better.
Go Sox!!! |

I'm rooting for the Red Sox. I haven't watched any baseball all year but I've watched some of the Marlins/Cubs and Sox/Yanks games.
I grew up in Baltimore so I was an Orioles fan for along time. I don't like the Yankees. Though I don't really follow the Orioles anymore.
The only sports I'm sorta into are college basketball, NFL, and every once in a while baseball. Also the World Cup is cool.

Li'l Black, sorry but that was hilarious. I too don't give a rat's ass about any sport. The only reason I want to see the Sox win is so I can see everyone freak out and riot. Then again I go to school in MA but it's closer to Albany than Boston so there are a lot of Yankees fans here too. Should be interesting no matter what.

I lived in Baltimore until I was 10. I started following baseball when I was 5 and I'm an Orioles fan. My grandparents taught me the joy of hating the Yankees. I've hated them for 32 years. I carry on that tradition now and will continue for the rest of my life! Fuck the Yankees and George Steinbrenner. I want to see the "best team money can buy" lose again. FUCK 'EM!

Eh, I couldn't care either way, but if the Yankees don't win, I'll hear about it for the next three months from my dad. So go Yanks.

Chalk another vote up for the Yanks. The only time I can EVER cheer for them is against the Red Sox. I say this as I wear my tattered and grubby Expos hat - now that's where it's at!

Yankees and Marlins...
welp, looks like I won't be watching the World Series at all this year. Cubs and Red Sox would have been so much better.

From what I understand the Cubs and Red Sox can never play each other - something about the way the Leagues work. I have no idea.

MLB does have interleague play now, so they can play against each other.

And they could have played each other in the World Series.
In the morning, I have tell my 5 year old daughter who was convinced the Red Sox were going to the World Series and went to bed in the 7th that they lost. Hopefully she'll just be disappointed for me (I can take it) and not be upset herself. It was a cruel loss. |

Actually I'm not. I lived in CT for 2 years 1997-1999, but that's it.
In Florida, I became a Sox fan when I was 7 because my friends were Sox fans (they were transplanted New Englanders). And, for some reason I have become an devote Red Sox fan (and love baseball in general), but nights like tonight (and 1986 and 1978) test one's faith. |

I've been in CA since '81. I was originally from Mass. Yeah, my faith is being tested big-time. My daughter isn't old enough to know what baseball is, so at least she's spared the grief.
I think '86 hurt a lot more than '78 or tonight. I almost cried. Tonight I told myself not to get too excited even with the lead. But with 5 outs to go, I started thinking "Wow, they could do it...". Oh well.
At least with Theo, the future looks good, even with the outcome of tonight.

Okay, so it's 4am here in VA usa and I just woke up. I fell asleep in the 3rd inning and the Red Sx were fucking winning.
So they lose it in 11. Great. My dad is still living if anyone besides me gives a shit.
Goddammit.
I asked him several times before the game if he would be okay if they lost and assured me that he would. They're traveling 1200 miles to TX tomorrow to see me sister.
I hope he is okay.
Rest assurred, this will be one of the worst rated world series ever. Fuck the Yankees, I still don't know what happened.
Fuck. : )

I love the city of Boston, and Fenway is one of the best stadiums around, but I never liked the teams there. Dallas is right on, the Sox are punks, and they will never win it all. Their manager is a knucklehead, as he proved last night. Since the Cubbies also choked big time, I really don't care about the Series this year, but I suppose I would like to see the Yankees get slapped about a bit.
Florida wins the series in 6 games, 4-2...

The long term future of the Sox does look bright with Theo, but I believe they only have Pedro (he shouldn't have argued for staying in) and Nomar signed for one more year. I'll be back in the Spring, but I don't think I can watch the World Series unless the Marlins get a sizable lead. |
