I'm 28, but in a few weeks I get to officially embark on the last year of my twenties. For the steenking record, I've been an active/avid fan of Frank and/or the Pixies for 12 odd years. And by odd, I mean...odd. I'm never going to outgrow Frank. Nope.

As for what kind of music...gah. Good question. For the answer, I turned to an arm of google, our search engine friend, to give an answer of what the entire world wide web thinks Frank is all about! Incidently, googlism.com is a completely pointless yet somehow amumsing way to waste one's time. I recommend it.
Anyway, I plunked Frank's name in, and this came out (I took out the references that were obviously about the TV character of the same name, har har. bold stuff is what I think fits the best personally, italics are my side commentary):

frank black is 6
frank black is back
frank black is obviously
frank black is one damn prolific dude
frank black is delivering great hooks with maximum guitar fury from a stereo near you with his new
frank black is alive
frank black is more than willing to talk to and interested journalist or dj about the incident
frank black is riding an hovercraft
frank black is going to tour
frank black is on a similar quest
frank black is better than the pixies ever were
frank black is poised to release yet another new album this spring

frank black is coming back to earth
frank black is back in the studio
frank black is a truly innovative musician and has an extremely large and loyal following on the internet and among fans in our target market
frank black is not a musical genius
frank black is intentionally singing like mick jagger on the album's second song
frank black is rumoured to be playing some canadian dates soon
frank black is about a bottle of wine
frank black is forced to consume snake venom the former two could have to do with the TV character, I don't know - either way, it's weird hehe!!
frank black is sort of an anti
frank black is said to be planning two new albums to be released as early as this august as a follow
frank black is plowing on ahead
frank black is more a disconnected group of songs than his succeeding albums
frank black is just getting started
frank black is a trickster
frank black is a genius
frank black is god
frank black is one of the saints of rock and roll
frank black is returning to his roots"
frank black is the best songwriter ever
frank black is your kind of thing
frank black is still cool
frank black is the ultimate person to talk about when trying to impress those hip alternative people who hate mainstream music because
frank black is taking a breather from finishing his latest recording and is talking with me on the phone while sitting next to a
frank black is that whole riddle/enigma/mystery thing tied up in one neat rock & roll package
frank black is so relaxed and chatty over the phone that it's like talking to an old pal over a cup of coffee - give or take 3000 miles
frank black is one of the last rugged individualists in rock
frank black is currently not planning to play in europe in the near future
frank black is definitely not the sentimental type

frank black is the best thing to happen to rock since the guitar
frank black is here with us
frank black is my vocal hero
frank black is exceptional
frank black is the mastermind behind the pixies
frank black is now performing with a band of his own

so, (delicately)who is the oldest posting here?-
-this could be sheer suicide as i probably am (43)
but i can honestly say that me 'n the missus (semi/x girlfriend)
are participating in most 20 something social activities.
(in public and otherwise)and i can also say we don't look our
age either. heck what are forty something people supposed to look like?
i know it's pathetic sometimes to see the aging hipster in action
and we definitely aren't into that (i hope).
but .... any takers??

You got me beat, but not by too much (36). You probably don't have kids--it seems they age you quickly. My younger brother has less hair, a bigger waist line and 2 kids. I've known some hipster couples with kids who were not pathetic. Here's hoping!

36 also but kids aging you is a load of old bollocks. I think it is actually the opposite, they keep you young. (maybe not the first year though!!). I've two young daughters and they light up my life. Not into FB or the Pixies yet but give them time.

That's right amigo.About the ~ simbol it goes on top of the letter n to form another letter from the Spanish alphabet (ours alphabet goes l m n ņ o p).In the public library computer I use the command to print that letter is Alt 164 (the 164 has to be from the numbers on the right side of the keyboard)don't know if it's pre set equally for all computers but give it a try.

Came across this site whilst looking for info on the so called remastered pixies albums. (Been a big fan of Pixies and then FB since Surfer Rosa in 1988)

All sorts of weird and wonderful stuff being debated here in these forums. I don't think I'll be able to keep away! For example, I now know the spanish for bollocks. Top quality - don't get this on BBC's Question Time

Well...as my topic concludes, Age IS varied round here. Wise words who said how Once you get involved in the sound of FB you wont grow out of it...
I wish id have heard the delights of the pixies a lot sooner than i did. Though the impact would still have been the same.

yeah, i basically knew it's use: niņo. but lack of doing so makes it weak info i suppose. -but not aGNOstic?
(i'm just being silly)
the funny thing is that i grew up in california
and had many mexican friends and we weren't far from barrios etc.
and now live in Chicago where it's very ethnically diverse with
mexicanos probably the biggest (and yes some of our neighbors do come out and shoot guns into the sky on new years)and of course a healthy dose of Puerto ricans: they love to drive around with P.R. flags draped over their hoods of their car, honk horns and tie up traffic.
...and now the mexicans do that on Cinco de Mayo AND a seperate
Mexican independance day.
i'm not sure who started the whole thing but anyway through all this
i have never learned spanish!
i do learn more when i'm around someone from mexico trying to learn english
-then we kind of meet halfway.

I'm 30. I started listening to the Pixies in high school. Since then, I bought a house, got married and reproduced. I still don't feel like an adult.

To quote They Might Be Giants, "You're older than you've ever been & now you're even older. And now you're even older. And now you're even older."

Anyway... Americana works. I've heard the term a few times. Basically it's anything with a "roots music" kind of sound like bluegrass/country/blues type thing. Personally, I don't know how to categorize Frank. Frank is Frank. Frank is good.

get outta town!

on another note there is a kickass brew made out there in Oregon
somewhere (maybe Portland)that you can probably get most anywhere
as it is around here in Chicago - Dead Guy Ale -no kidding,
it's not a fad beer with a name as a gimmick as it's actually really
good somewhere between Guiness and Chimay although closer to Chimay.
(i forget the name of the brewery but most of their stuff is good
-i think they are also the ones that make a japanese recipe beer that
kicks ass and is cheaper to buy here rather than the actual jaoanese product)
