Hey Bill, not bad!

The song has nice structure, you mix it up a bit, not too predictable. Reminds me of something, but i can't put my finger on it right now...

For recording, make sure you get hotter levels, everything is sounding kinda 'thin'...fatten the bass up a bunch too.. What sorta gear you using?

Thanks

I recorded it with my Tascam 414 MKII, just some analog 4 track machine (with a cassete and all...), and a microphone.

I liked it.
Reminded me of late 90's King Crimson while not sounding anything like it. (Just what it made me think of).

Thanks Steveplymouthuk!

Now I have to check out some King Crimson.

Little Black Francis:

If you want to listen my song, it's quite simple. Just click on the link, click on the song,
give you e-mail addres and your name, and the song starts.

But if you want to upload your own songs (depends on how I read your question), I'm afraid you have to read the info on the site, cause that's too complexe to explain.

Well, let's just say if I can do it, you can do it too, it's not that complexe.....

Well MP3.com is basicly a site for amateur performers, writers (etc.)
to go public.

Most of all you can post songs(mp3's)
You can put pictures on the site
Info about yourself and the songs

So yes, for a 17 year old DUTCH Singer/Songwriter (who is still in high school)
like yours truly (I'm talking about myself here, duh!), it's an opportunity to let the whole world listen to your music.

Otherwise you will never hear about me (hey that's a FB connection, does this mean the topic can be in the FB section dave?)

haha....

great!

Because I'm so excited due your feedback I can talk hours about my songs/site. Did anyone notice my photo? I'm dressed up as a famous star. The first one who can tell me which artist I'm supposed be on that picture, gets a copy of my ''album'' (at your own risk of hating it)

Wow! That's like a contest! Very Lame!

how do you put your song ons mps/com though. I know some people who have done it too. Do you pay to put them on there? is it free? how does the part work is what I was asking. I know what it is, I've seen or heard other people use it, I just never investigated puttiing anything of my own on there because I don't know eough about it and for some reason I am resistent to reading it from the site itself.

little black francis:

MP3.com is free, although you can pay for a better account with
more uploadoptions etc.

You just sign up as an artist, make an artist-account, if that's done
you login and you can go to 'artist-admin' and 'song admin' and put info and songs on it, make sure it are mp3's with 129 Kb/sec.

Well, if you're really interested, read the (stupid) site. I agree that's not a nice thing to do. I was reading and filling out forms for an hour, and when I uploaded the song it took 2 weeks to get it through the mp3-commision. I honestly had givin up about it, when a mate told me about my own site, haha.

So the one tip I have:

Be patient

and let your mates watch out for you

I will upload another song today

Hiya Bill, you have craft! I'd like to make a recommendation though...get yourself a page at iuma.com. They'll do the same thing for you that mp3.com does, but when you send someone a link to your song they won't get hassled with mp3.com's "registration service"...it can make at least some difference in your site traffic, 1 out of every 6 people might be deterred if they can't just get in and get out with the song. How about doing an FB cover? Many of the other musicians here, myself included, have long hoped to realize the beautiful dream of a Frank Black cover album for years now. The possibility exists, I have about 5 or 6 covers in mp3 form from other members and one of my own.

I would love to cover Frank, I will do it!

But isn't it illegal to put a cover on Mp3.com?
How about iuma.com?

So I guess I have to mail you the song, or something?
Which songs of Frank have been done so far?

Yeah, no covers on MP3.com unless you have written permission from the author/publishing company.

We can stick it on the FTP site - you know how to do FTP?

Hey, Bill,

I like this easy going song. I think you're voice is good too. I like building harmonies as well.

FTP is ok, Dave.

But, I really would like to know which songs are already covered.
I want to do something original (haha, stupid joke)

Here's a new song for the people who are still interested....

it's called 'driftin by' and I played a hundred year old harmonium on it. It's one of my favourite recordings, hope you like it.

thanks guys, that harmonium is so freakin' great. It was a sort of religious instrument in those days (like 1900-1930), built for church choirs or for family-psalm-sing-a-longs.

I can't play organ or anything like that, I just played something what sounded right.

I'm gonna send my demo/album to a dutch indielabel, keep your fingers crossed!

Yeah man. The love song came across as "OK" but the driftin by one was really impressive. Remound me of Beck. Very cool.

Hi people,

I told you about my plans to send my demo to a indie label.

I want to include your reactions (you know, the ones in this topic), so they can read, what other people think about my music

Is there anybody who has a problem with this?
