Ooh, we have some Jhonen Vasquez fans here! My favs are/were Invader Zim, Batman Animated Seriez, especially the ones that Dini wrote, and the ones people already mentioned, like Ren and Stimpy, Space Ghost, Simpsons...good times. I caught a glimpse of one called Samurai Jack(?)...and I was pretty impressed with it. |

I could never follow what was going on in Samurai Jack cause I would tune in halfway through but I dug the eerie silence anyhow. Batman TAS was so good. What the hell happened to it later with the Superman show (ugh)?

I can't watch that! I always wanted robin to have his own series. I would have settled for that robin from TAS that they called Dick Grayson even though he was much more Tim Drakish.
A Tim Drake Animated Series would kick some ass. They could do some flash backs of the original boy wonder and even an episode dedicated to the memory of Jsson Todd telling the story of his death. Oh man O man when will HBO do that??

How could I have forgotten X-Men from the 90's? Anybody remember that Prime Time episode? That was a big deal for me.
I have a TMNT T-shirt and a Thundercats T. I should get some more. I'm actually gonna get my sis a Moncheechee T-shirt from that 80stees site becuase that's what she calls monkeys.

That series was not that good, IMO. I realize that the X-Men continuity is pretty convoluted, so for that reason they did a good job of at least trying to tackle some comic-book storylines, like the Sentinel storyarc, among others, and the Phoenix. But, the art was horrible. Ever see the even older series, the one with Nightshadow, Colossus, and Kitty Pryde?
My friend had a cartoon X-Men episode called "Pryde of the X-Men." It was from the late 80's. It was God-awful. Wolverine had an Australian accent!
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move. Douglas Adams |

Yes I've seen that and as I recall it was pretty bad. I like the series from the 90's for just the reasons you pointed out. It was dedicated to the comics, had a long run, and approached the characters admirably. It's much better than the shitty X-Men Evolution that's currently being aired.
I actually like Jackie Chan Adventures and this kids cartoon called Chalk Zone.

I really liked the X-Men series in the 90s on FOX Kids. That was good stuff...made me collect the toys...and the toys are cool.

Anybody remember the cartoon, C.O.P.S.?? That was a good one. Also, no mention of Aeon Flux yet?

I loved Aeon Flux, and a lot of the stuff they ended up playing on Liquid Television - do you know who created that animation, or if they have any projects going now? That was incredible! |

Peter Chung did Aeon Flux. He's got something new , but I'm not remembering the title right now. Liquid TV rocked...

C.O.P.S. was great. I still remember the theme song. I had a friend who had a lot of the COPS toys. They were cool cause they were bigger and had several points of articulation.

I'm not a big fan of Dexter. Has anyone seen the New TMNT series? It's actually not half bad although I much prefer the original. This new one has made me laugh a few times. I doubt many people have seen it as you would have to get up early on Sat., I watch a lot of cartoons at my dispatcher job.

I'm totally stuck in the 80s. If anyone has checked out my homepage link, they'll find out just how sadly I'm obsessed with ThunderCats, heh heh. Voltron and He-Man are other faves, and they get a little section in my site as well.
For anyone looking for old classic toons that are no longer aired and such, I do run a yahoo group dedicated to trading cartoon eps. There are some ftp servers available through the group where you can access some hard-to-get stuff. :: shameless self-promotion alert :: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TCAVI/ Do note, I get really crabby on the mailing list when painfully obvious questions are asked by n00bs. Reading over all the introductory info before posting a "how do I" question will spare you my poking/whapping you with my trusty pointy stick. You have been warned ;)

Thanks :) I've been working on the site for over two years now. And I'm proud to say I'm self taught in html and coded much of it myself (save for the parts that use javascript or php). It's my silly little hobby - I have so many good memories from watching ThunderCats when I was a kid *sigh* oh the nostalgia!

I remember when they brought it back on Toonami, Good God was I happy. I used to have this little plastic sword that I'd pretend was Liono's, good times.

I don't know, I don't encode anything and I don't operate any of the ftps - I just provided the venue where everyone comes together and accesses the stuff - namely, Yahoo groups I'll take your word for it, though. And glad to see new members. Whee!

Trying to think back to what I loved;
Johnny Quest The Smurfs (not sure WHY I liked this but I did) Fat Albert The Jetsons School House Rock
Those are the first ones that come to mind, but give me time. I was a big cartoon girl! How come the cartoons on Saturday mornings are such crap now? When I was growing up Saturday Morning was an EVENT!
Oh, another one I loved was the "Hanker for a Hunka Cheese" guy - who remembers him?? |

Oh yes! the cheese wheel/cracker dude with the big ten gallon hat, if I remember right - that was great! I want the lyrics so I can sing it when i make a snack...I wish I could watch that again - School House Rock was so awesome. Have you seen Mad TV's satire of it? Very funny, very scarey! I sound a little obsessed. oops. And yeah - Saturday morning was a little slice of kid's heaven. What the hell happened? |

Staring down the barrel, at the...uh, nevermind...
Saddest thing happened the other day - I heard "Pictures of You" in an HP commercial. Sad. So sad.
the Maxx, I almost forgot about that one - it was good, really funny, from what I remember, but didn't run very long, like 1994-95? at least where I could get it.
Edit: I missed ramona's post - Thank you!! Now, off to drive my spouse nuts when he gets home...mwahahahaha! |
