Mike & I were discussing this one day and I thought it was an interesting idea. Now everyone will have their own opinions and some of us have more live shows than others, etc, but I think it'd be cool to have alternate versions of his albums completely live.

So, basically, we'd go through one album at a time, starting with the orange album, and say what show the best version of that song live was from (assuming that we have the MP3 to back it up). Maybe starting with track one and working from there. By the end of an album, we'd have the 'best' live recordings of every song on that album, or at least really good ones.

Criteria would be recording quality, energy, any sort of cool uniquities on a track, etc. Preferably all full band. It probably won't work, but maybe it'll be fun.

So, starting things off, I'd say that the strong candidates for Los Angeles would be:

Electric Ladyland Studios (93-06-24) - good recording, good keys, no lead guitar

Reading Festival UK (94-08-26) - good overall

Bug Jar - good recording, high energy vocals

Knitting Factory - awesome intro, but missing lead guitar

The State - awesome quality/energy, great lead work, missing keys

I think my choice for this one would have to be The State recording. It's missing the keys, but it's recorded so well and has a lot of energy going on. Others like Electric Ladyland and Knitting Factory are good too, but missing the lead on this song is almost criminal.

I listened to about 15 concert versions so there's definitely more out there I don't have. Feel free to introduce a new one to the decision process, but you may have to make it available to us! :)

Well, you've got all the shows, look into it for me. 'cause I'm a pretty big fan of The State version.

Can you send me another email with the details on your server/software. I wanted to connect this weekend and realized I lost it as well as the link to the client I have to d/l.

Thanks.

Has Frank played every single song of every album at least once live? There must be some he's never touched.

Damn you all for being able to get onto noexx's server!! >:O
