Well, thanks a lot Carolyn, now I'm addicted to Paul McCartney's "Uncle Albert". It's just an amazing song, and I listen to it about 3-5 times a day. It is pure joy.

The butter wouldn't melt so he put it in a pie.

You should check out Ween's live version of Band on the Run. It is fan-freaking-tastic. They are sublime.

Yeah, nice the way he immediately answers your question: "Hey, what the fuck is a butter pie?"

That song is one of the very first songs I remember, ever. That and Donovan's "Atlantis."

My antediluvian baby, oh yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah,

i love the lo-fi feel of ram and mccartney - then he got all polished and did shit like "no more lonely nights" and "silly love songs," although the later has a killer bass line

i'm addicted to 'mass romantic' by the new pornographers(the song and the album) since dean or mike mentioned them and i went out and found it. electric version is goin to be in my collection as soon as possible.
and i thought they were singing 'this boy's like a monkey, electrical lights' rather than 'this boy's life among the electrical lights'.

'Every Night' on the first McCartney album blows me away. My old man played the hell out of 'Band on the Run' when I was a kid, but I never really appreciated McCartney as a solo artist until I heard the first one. Hard to believe it's the same guy on those corny records of the late '70s.

3-5 times a day?

That's funny, I always get on a kick and listen to the same song over and over until I almost can't stand it anymore.

Heh... boy like a monkey. You're close but you're way off. :)

Hey, glad you liked it Jessie. Electric Version is actually about three times the album that Mass Romantic is, you will surely enjoy. My favourite from Mass Romantic though is Letter from an Occupant. Gets in my head like you wouldn't believe.

Now I'm going to have to spin Mass Romantic at the office this afternoon...

The Ween live version of Band on the Run rules. I'm not saying it's better than Wings, it's just really tasty. Look it up Carolyn, you will love it.

The NP's are great Jessie, though I agree with Deaner, Electric Version is where it's at. I can't get enough of "End of Medicine".

Well Mike, I gotta say, it was awesome. I was really really impressed. I was late, missed Piss up a Rope, which is good, the rest rocked. I even got 5 free sloan tix (which you probably don't like but I do) from the doorguy for Friday. Good stuff all around.

Ahhh, there you are.
I don't even know all the names of the songs, but I swear I thought of ya when they played the Mollusk. What else Ocean Man, Japanese Cowboy (I think), Push the Little Daisies and they played a couple songs that had no lyrics and they were awesome, I totally strobed out to those ones.
Oh and that one about Fuck you bitch, you fucked up....whatever.
No covers though.

Neko sounds like a chimpmunk? What are you smoking Jessie? And yes, Occupant is catchy as hell. When I get that in my head, bad news.

Have you ever seen the video for PTLD? Those guys are totally entertaining. But you should still listen to HomoRainbow, didja?
And they didn't play Stay Forever either:(
And I couldn't find this Band on the Run cover yesterday either, I think you're making it up.

I'll have to listen to Homo Rainbow. And you MUST hear the Band on the Run cover. I've listened to it some many times I'm wearing out the mp3. Stay Forever rules. Yes, I've seen the video. Once, long ago. I hated it. I was a fool.

Hmm, The Electric Version better than Mass Romantic? Maybe I just haven't listened to TEV enough yet, but I don't think it's as good. I agree that Letter From An Occupant is the best song on MR. And I've never seen the New Pornographers live, but I've seen Neko three times. I don't know how anyone would think she sounds like a chipmunk; I really like her voice. My girlfriend got me into her and the New Pornographers.

To be fair, I've only listened to MR all the way through about 3 times. I've listened to EV countless times. So perhaps it's not fair to judge. I do feel that EV is a little more diverse, although diverse within the context of the NP's sound.
