" Black,Frank: Catholics - Show Me Your Tears
Former Pixies frontman Frank Black returns with his seventh - and best - solo outing. Recorded in Hollywood with long-time backing band The Catholics, 'Show Me Your Tears' features 13 brand new songs ('Thirteen big, salty tears.
Like thirteen little black dogs just born, still in their sacs, about to wake up, ready to howl at the world'- Frank Black), including storming first single 'Nadine' ("There goes Nadine/Head to toe in Black/When I see Nadine/I want that"). Other standout tracks include the acerbic 'Goodbye Lorraine' ('I said you have no heart/Until that aching fills your chest'), the honky tonk 'Horrible Day' and the surf rock-inspired 'Massif Centrale'.
Musical guests on the album include ex-Pixies guitarist Joey Santiago, and former Wall Of Voodoo mainman Stan Ridgway, who produces three tracks - 'My Favorite Kiss', 'Goodbye Lorraine' and 'This Old Heartache'. 'Still giving his peers a lesson in eccentric post-punk powertooling, the high priest of alterno has done the next best thing to orchestrating the rumoured Pixies reunion. He's made it unnecessary' - **** Bang " |
