I'm trying to compile some great songs to play around the campfire, or where ever.
Any cool Frank Black suggestions? Any other musicians/songs?
I just stumbled across a nice song from Damien Rice. Also Elliott Smith. Any suggestions would be nice. Thanks.

"The Farewell Bend." To start out with would be a good one.

Why thank-you Will, always nice to see a fellow NMH fan about. Aeroplane Over the Sea already has that intimate campfire feel, I think it would lend itself quite well to that sort of thing. Especially if you can pull off a decent Jeff Mangum. Though that is difficult. I'd stay away from Oh Comely though, unless you've got some real NMH freaks gathered 'round, they might not want to sit through 8 minutes of moody folk.

right on. NMH is always challenging Frank for my favorite artist, along with Rilo Kiley. and i rarely go a day without playing one or several of their songs on guitar. if anyone's interested, i have a pretty bad recording of "In The Aeroplane Over The Sea" up here.. http://members.cox.net/divercity/gavinsongs.html As far as recommending campfire-type tunes, "King Of Carrot Flowers" (p.1) is also a good one.. short and sweet. |

That is really one of the saddest songs I've ever heard. And yet listening to that album does not make me sad. It's quite strange. Maybe it's because the melodies are so beautiful, I don't know.

I can not listen to Two Headed Boy without just, damn near breaking into tears. So, so, so sad.
