Never found myself to be much of a David Bowie fan. I have recently been turned on to the new album 'Reality'. Does anyone else have anything to say about the album. I think it is great. Not sure why??? He covers a Jonathon Richman song as well as a George Harrison. What is the name of the female bass player? Anyone?

I haven't got the album yet but "Never get old" is a very good song. And Gail Ann Dorsey is the female bass player. |

what i've heard of it and reports from friends indicate that it's good but not as good as 'heathen'.
i'm surprised you didn't get turned on by that album featuring his cover of 'cactus', of course. |

Thanks for the name of that crazy-ass bass player. I went to see the David Bowie IMAX deal. I didn't pay and it was a last second decision. Time well spent though. That bass player is electrifying! As for Cactus? Cool choice for a cover I guess? Does a decent job. I mean it is David Bowie.
All The Days Of My Life is slow but almost Coastline-like. If I need to make an FB comparison.
The sound of the album seems to get better with each listen.

I've given it a few spins, not too impressed, Heathen was very good. |

Is Bowies bass player a black woman who looks a little like Skin from Skunk Anansie?? And does Bowie still make use of Reeves Gabrel?
Who's the man that won't cop out when there's danger all about? |

Reeves Gabrels has gone...and won't be back.
Yes, he's using the bass player that looks abit like Skin.
I respect BrendanT's opinion on 'Reality' but I have to say that i was horribly disappointed with it - especially after 'Heathen'...lot's of the songs have their moments but the only one for me that is a great song from start to finish is called 'Fall Dog Bombs The Moon'.

Gail Ann Dorsey is so hot! Bowie did a mini-concert on TV last week and she had a black top with a wonderful cleavage. I love that woman. I'm not impressed by Reality either. The first 3 songs are great and the last one too, but the middle of the album is weak IMO. It's a good think Gabrels has gone, Earl Slick is a great guitarist, but Bowie should really try to stop over-producing his records. I wish he'd record Frank-Black way.

Thanks for the opinions. I actually have a copy of Heathen but never gave more than a couple of listens. Maybe I will try again. The album does sound over-produced but I did have the opportunity to see the band play the songs live and it was much heavier and with a little more substance.
Off topic. For those living in the Toronto area (maybe Canada-wide). I was listening to the radio, something I never do and I caught myself wondering what the hell song was playing underneath an advertisement for something or other when I realized it was Monkey Gone To Heaven!? What the hell is going on I thought? Then to cap off the evening I was walking through the mall, a place I never go and in passing the Gap I thought what the hell song is that? It was Men In Black. At the Gap! Have all the fun you can folks. The world must be coming to an end. I hope it is a peaceful ending!
