if it's not watching the daily show and tough crowd then it's wrong.

seriously, though, they're like the only sources of joy in my day.

(i enjoy smiley abuse. )

Daily Show is great. I enjoy Tough Crowd as well, though I've noticed most people hate it. Colin Quinn gets a lot of negative attention. It is sometimes uncomfortable watching the struggling comics try their hardest to get laughs, or when a seasoned veteran's on, watching him get "respect" laughs to appease him. I like how it's improvised and if a joke fails, it fails, and they don't disguise it.

yeah tough crowd is fun because of it being a chaotic mess. it's important that the crowd doesn't pander to the comedians. you're right, it sucks when a respected comic gets pity laughs. at least a couple of them have told the audience that it's ok, they know the joke failed.

it's pretty entertaining. it's a much more fun way of discussing topics than, say, real time with bill maher. bill maher is and always has been totally unfunny, and also a lot less intelligent than he thinks he is. in fact, i'd say borderline retarded.

I watch The Daily Show at bedtime and then whatever I've ordered the TiVo to catch during the day. Tough Crowd is good but too agitating right before sleep.

I really like Colin Quinn. I thought he did an excellent job on Weekend Update on SNL. That shortrun show he had on NBC was really good too...damn shame they dumped it.

at 11pm I watch Howard Stern. At 11:35 I watch Letterman. If those are reruns, I watch Adult Swim (Family Guy, Futurama, or Home Movies).
But don't fret!! I tape the Daily Show and Tough Crowd and watch them the next day.

Colin Quinn hit his peak on Remote Control and has been going downhill ever since.

I watch The Daily Show almost everynight (10 pm Pacific time) and it's guaranteed to make me laugh at least once a night. Any show that consistently sticks it to Bush is on my favorable list. I watch Letterman most nights, but mostly because it's a longterm habit.

The Daily Show is great, fortunately our low rent Comedy Central wannabe "Comedy Network" carries it. The do not, however, broadcast "Tough Crowd". What is it? Colin Quin's thing? I need me some american satellite action... I will for sure after Paradise Hotel is over....

Here here to the Daily Show, though I think most times it's just too short. Colin Quinn on the other hand? Holy crap! I always thought he had some kind of relative or mob connection to be allowed on tv at all. I couldn't imagine that ANYONE could find him funny. AT all. I guess I was mistaken. ugh.

Also, "Now" on PBS here in the states comes on at 11 EST, and I have much much respect for Letterman, and I still try to catch him some nights. However, he seems to have lost his will to be edgy, especially as much as he used to be on CBS. I don't blame him, necessarily, but I miss it.

I watch Daily show generally followed by Letterman. Daily Show seems to be resting a bit on its laurels. Not enough 'reports' each show of late IMHO. Most of it is inspired though.

Jon Stewart can grate on me a little bit. He uses that Dave Letterman "uh uh uh" bit (where he pretends to stutter while thinking) too much..and occasionally he does little improvised asides in wacky voices that bother me, but he knows his stuff. The supporting cast, many of which sadly don't stay long enough, are usually absolutely hilarious though.

The Daily Show also isn't nearly as good without the guy that now does the FedEx ads (that guy was brilliant in AdNauseam) and without Mo Rocca.

That just my MOpinion.

Since we're on the subject, I got the chance to see Lewis Black live a few months ago in MI...holy shit is that man hilarious. He says "fuck" almost every other word, but it doesn't lose its cool, because he's fucking hilarious.
