The former Mr. Black Francis lives up to his current surname with this dark little platter. There's a difference in being sad and being completely devoid of happiness, and Show Me Your Tears is testament to the latter. In the wake of lots of talk about a Pixies reunion, Frank Black seems to have used his latest collection of songs as a method of exorcising some pretty serious demons that still haunt him. This is not a happy record, but it displays some of Frank Black's most explosively intimate songwriting since Surfer Rosa. Sounds like the alternative to Black's suicide.
