Hi All,
I found FB live 93 bootleg a few months ago. Towards the end of the cd there is a song called 'This is where I belong' which is a cool song. Is this a cover version or a Frank Black tune that has never been released officially?

He released it officially, as a cool Teenager B-side/bonus track type deal. It's a Kinks cover! The studio version's cool to track down, because it has that Teenager production, which could be a good treat. |

Maybe I'll try one of the Napster-style engines on the net. Does anyone know of any Napster style engines which let you record to cd, as most seem to be for MP3.... please excuse my lack of IT education... although believe it or not thats what I majored in. |

Before reading below, realize I am not a know-it-all jerkoff. I am intending to help, based on the assumption that I can explain it reasonably well. If the terminology is off or misleading, please correct me, somebody. Thanks.
Stuart:
Well, I think your problem is that CD audio tracks are encoded as WAV files (at around 14,000 K/s), which means they are higher-fidelity recordings, but also that they are around ten times the file size of your typical MP3. This is why MP3s are so popular for swapping electronically, as on Napster or Audiogalaxy. It's actually reasonable on a dialup connection to download an entire album, at not much larger in size than a single track (in the WAV format) from the same album.
So, as you may or may not know, you can use MP3s to "record to CD" but with a minor loss of sound quality (compared to original CD--not compared with the MP3 on the computer). If you are wondering about how to do that, I will happily explain the process if you wanna drop me a line. Basically, your typical newer CD burning program (I use Nero Burning Rom) now has a built-in converter which changes the MP3 back to the correct WAV format before creating it as part of your audio CD. It's easy.
Anyway, I hope I wasn't patronizing you with this little essay. Reading over it, I can see how condescending it might seem if I am answering the wrong questions. I was assuming you didn't understand why you typically can't find "Download the actual CD here!" on the net. Of course nowadays it's more sensible that people would have the actual files extracted "as-is" from the CDs uploaded somewhere. A good broadband connection would make downloading an entire album in the original format faster than grabbing the MP3s from a standard 56K connection.
