slsk comes without spyware, is easier to use (imho) and contains better songs - not just the hit songs you find so easily on kazaa.
i've never tried to download porn through slsk though...

There are loads of bootlegs on Soulseek (I got Malibu and The Sad Punk from there, but there are more). I was interested in the link as Soulseek, Kazaa, etc, aren't that reliable on a 56k modem, especially when some bastard cuts you off!

apparently not....though the mail soul seek is down, and they have a temporary new site that wouldn't be listed anyway.
My Top 5 Pixies bootlegs, all found via Soul Seek:
1 - Switzerland Leysin Rock Festival (1991. Also known as "Subbacultcha") - This bootleg is amazing. The quality is great, there are a lot of songs (20+) and Black Francis is having a ripper of a night on the mic. One of the most passionate performaces I've heard. It starts off with a great version of River Euphrates (it's the same version as the live film clip that's floating around)and the track listing is great. Each songs has an amazing kind of zest that I don't get from any other bootleg. They must have been having a great night. Great live versins of The Happening and Head On feature, which are songs I don't see much on bootlegs. easily the best Pixies bootleg in my opinion.
2. "Live 91" I don't know the correct name for this bootleg, I just downloaded it under this title. It's also brilliant though, and the perfect companion to "Subbacultcha". This is because it has similarly great quality sound and The Pixies were also evidently having a blinder tonight as well. What's even more great about it, is that while the two bootlegs were both recorded in the same year, the tracklisting is very different. Between this and Subbacultcha, you have two brilliant live bootlegs that cover a large portion of brilliant songs. Song songs on this that aren't on Subba include Rock Music, Cecilia Ann, Manta Ray, Dancing the Manta Ray, Alec Eiffel. I have these first 2 burned as CDs and kept in a double CD case. Excellent listening.
3 - Black Francis - The Dream is Over
Black Francis solo. It's great, and I've already made a post about it here, si I'll quote myself: "I was initially a little skeptical about how well many of the Pixies songs could be replicated by one man playing one guitar. My initial fears were soon to be completely oblitereated though. This is one awesome live show. The one guitar creates a very raw, yet intimate atmosphere, and Francis hollers as loudly and passionatly as ever. A particular highlight is hearing him belt out "Into the White"."
the thread is here: http://forum.frankblack.net/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2741
4 - Give Me Ecstacy
Half of the bootleg is lo-fi Doolittle Demos, half is a good live show fro, the Doolittle era. It's interesting to hear Doolittle with different production, a few more songs and how they were different prior to recording Doolittle.
5 - Transatlantic Doolittle Tour - A solid Live performance. |

No problem, yeah ive heard the live version of river euphrates from that switzerland performance and it really does kick the shit out of the surfer rosa version, maybe even the b-side version aswell even though the ri ri ri's are a bit erm....detuned?

Yeah, I find the Kazaa network to be quite inferior to Soul Seek, I usually get less results and the uder interface is significantly weaker. |

I have over 250 self-written songs. I'm thinking about displaying only them on kazaa and see if the RIAA threatens to sue me. If so, then I'll sue their asses...

Shakey, if you're going to download albums, here's a suggestion..... before you go to bed, start downloading. You'll wake up with at least 2 new albums.
