You type in a subject you want to get news alerts on and you get an email once a day, or as it happens, with news articles about the subject found through google's search engine. Quite clever I think.

actually it's nothing even remotely new.

when ICQ was new, C|Net had this little news alert client that you ran and it would constantly update the news as it happened. it ran in a little window, or you could minimize it and have it do pop-ups about certain subjects.

this was my main source of entertainment besides 3D Space Cadet Pinball and Solitare when i used to do customer phone support.

That's pretty cool. I wish Google had custom RSS feeds for something like this...I would *LOVE* that. RSS feeds are the way of the future!

Google often gets blocked here in China by the government for some reason. Doesn't make much sense really but it happens.
