I'm not a big fan of the song, but a question that's always been bugging me is what the hell is he screaming at the part where it sounds like he's screaming letters or something? I hope someone understands what I'm talking about |

It's one of my more favorite songs, but I wasn't extremely impressed when I first saw it played live. Surprisingly, they caught more energy on the album. It was still really good, none the less.

The song doesn't seem to go anywhere. It's too loud and repetitive for me |

For me, the illest part about I Switched You is that it is perhaps the closest Charles has come to doing his trademark scream since he left the Pixies. I mean, the vocals are just massive and menacing. It's rippin'! The song doesn't rock as much as "Smoke Up" from Pistolero, though. To me, that's the most rockinest tune from Pistolero, mainly because of the chorus chord progression. |

Theonecontender I agree! I Switched You is for some strange reason to me a very important song, and I think I know why. The first two times I got to see Frank live in '98 was aabout three months prior to release of Pistolero (possibly my favorite FB & C album), and both shows he played I Switched You. The song live is slightly scary, and it recalls his Surfer Rosa psychoticism. But it is balanced by slightly funny lyrics as well. And both times Frank performed this he became possessed and circled the stage in a weird little dance! And both times he had to inform the audience that "it's not over!" at the middle break. So the live performances were for me an introduction to his live magic. It is a wonderful song. And Nimrod, Frank is screaming "messed...my...head...why you goin puttin me...why you goin puttin me...why you goin puttin me down...ta ta ta tell-a-me..."

Um, what he said.
I can't remember which boot it's on, but I have one version of Switched You where he just shreds it. I'm amazed that he actually had enough voice left to complete the set. |
