Yeah i know what you mean but i hardly think that 1 topic about Kim's appearance is a preoccupation 'cos ALL the other topics are about the music (in on eway or another). The people who post on this topic are also posting on other topics, even more so. I think you just found it too easy to take this opportunity to impress people with your 'I'm above all of this' attitude. You've basically judged people from one topic and I don't think that's very fair. This isn't a Backstreet Boys site after all, the people here know how important the Pixies music is, and in fact music in general. There are no women in my life (awwww) but there is plenty of music. Which do you think means more to me, music or womens appearance ? Music obviously, but it doesn't mean i can't admire the female form now and again, especially if it's whilst listening to music.
And you know someone once told me that you need all these shitty bands 'cos it really makes you appreciate the good ones. The only down side is that the bad ones make any money out of it, but then it takes all sorts and you're treading on dangerous political ground the day you demand everyone be the same.
Hey you know that Mr Delaughter ? I bet that Soldier Girl made his head spin around 'cos he found her to be physically beautiful as well as an amazing girl. Should he just be concentrating on the talents she displays in her day job ? So if she is, well lets take this literally, a soldier. Should he admire the way she fires her rifle, sing about her accuracy in target practice ? Of course not. People become attracted to other people, it's a large part of why people fall in love, mate and keep this race alive.

That thing about appearances is equally true for both genders, after all. And you rarely hear bands on the radio that you won't see on TV.

Boy what a silly ass topic.
Appearance shouldn't matter, especially for musicians. Their job is to make music. Though Kim looks like a she-male in all the pictures I've seen (with the exception of a few), I got to say she has one of the sexiest and sweetest singing voices out of all the female singers I've heard. That's what matters to me. I think image is BS.
Image is for all the pop queens and kings who thrive off of it to make up for their shitty music. Would Britney Spears transformed into an old hag be hip? no. Too bad, that would be funny. |

| I can't believe there's a thread about Kim's looks and people have to talk about Frank's looks. I think Kim Deal is SEXY,SEXY,SEXY,SEXY!!!!!!!! If no visible light were to reflect from her person, I would still think she is sexy. sexy. sexy. sexy. yeah I said sexy. And also her voice is different on Title TK, very different. But how can a Pixies fan complain that her voice is no longer the voice of an angel. Sometimes angels get angry. Sometimes they want you to "TURN DOWN THE DAMN TV" i THINK it is wonderfully brutal, an emotional outpouring, barely controlled Chaos. A strained and stressed note can yield so many subtle nuances. What people think is an accidental squeek may be an accident she was hoping for. And it's music to my ears. Record yourself sometime screaming for your mother who lives in a neighboring county to WATCH OUT FOR THAT CAR!!!! listen closely and if you did it right you'll also hear "I love you mom" |

Kim has had better days overall.
However in each respective era she would fluctuate between a greasy-haired, chain-smoking mess of drunken sloppyness to feathery-haired, skirt wearing ultra fox with that mile-that-can-light-up-a-room in full glory.
Do you remember those early days when she would just play and beam that smile out to the masses. She was sooooo beautiful in those moments. Temper that with other concerts where she was smokin away and straight slammin almost half a beer between songs (5-10 seconds) and looking what I thought was just tour-worn.
She just lives a rough lifestyle. But, as someone mentioned, this has nothing to do with her music.
