What was the longest single vinyl record LP ever made? The longest I know of is "Initiation" by Todd Rundgren, which is about 68 minutes long.

Uhm wasn't their a stones album that was so long
you had to turn the volume up because they did something with the grooves (?) since it was too long for regular vinyl discs

I think the audio quality really begins to suffer when you get up around an hour on one disk. Elvis Costello's "Get Happy" was pretty long. I had an LP of Beethoven's 9th Symphony that was about 63 minutes.

The longest compact disk used to be the Mission of Burma comp on Ryko, which was just over 80 minutes. I don't know if it's been surpassed yet.

Sorry to distract the subject, but which Mission of Burma comp are you talking about?

Monty Python's 'Matching Tie And Hankerchief" LP has 3 sides!! There's 2 separate grooves on one of the sides. I'm not sure if it runs any longer than those old TR records, all of his records ran longer than anybody else....

Okay, cool. So it's not exactly songs I don't have, just a release that I'll probably never buy. Credit to them for cramming that much on there so early in the CD era.

Nothing is ever something.
