Dr. Katz is a cartoon for adults about a psychiatrist, his 20 something son who lives with him, his receptionist and a coulple of friends. It was pretty funny (cant imagine collecting the videos though - although I love the kids T shirt) and featured what I believe was called "wiggle vision". That is where the cartoon characters constantly 'wiggle' or shift back and forth on the frame. Its supposed to make it look more realistic?
Someone who knows better please clean up the mess I just made. |

That's OK, Jessie. I don't have Comedy Central either, I just happen to know about the show somehow... haven't seen an episode, so I couldn't say on the wiggle vision thing, though. |

I would eventually get used to it. I dont think it necessarily had the desired effect though. There was another cartoon that used it but I cant come up with it.
I also want to compliment Useyourname's air fretwork...it's stellar. |

Dr. Katz is made by the same company that does Home Movies, if anyone's ever seen that. Both really hilarious animated comedies that rely on improvisation and akward social situations.

Yeah he does look organized. Look at his game cube setup in the first picture. It's all symmetrical.
Anyway, very entertaining post. Hope we get more adventures of you viewing and listening to media.

James! Thank you for clearing that up...I always wondered if the Dr. Katz people were involved with Home Movies, considering they're pretty much identical in style (the way characters talk over other characters makes it more real...you NEVER see that in any other shows). Home Movies is FUCKING GREAT.

The symmetry is truly sublime. I realized I can't find a square foot in my entire house that's as organized as his room. His entertainment console literally glistens with cleanliness. The white glove inspector has nothing on useyourname. |

I'm wondering if he is even in his own house. His personal appearance does not fit the perfectness of his house.
Stupid threads and posts are the best.

My opinion is that he's living with Mom and Dad. His father is a Marine Corps drill sergeant and rules the house with an iron fist. Mom hosts a bridge club twice a week. Rules of household tidiness are rigorously enforced! The mote on his shirt, the unshaven appearance, the nail abnormality-- all are acts of rebellion while the parents are away on vacation. Even the air guitar stance rings of defiance. Yet still, he is careful to listen on headphones, lest the neighbors report their suspicions when Mom and Dad return.
Perhaps a "Dr. Katz" afficionado can verify whether those tapes are arranged in chronological order. My money says they are. |

K, seriously, you two are awesome. I've now reached the point in my adult life where I expect similar entertainment provided daily in picture/commentary format. Mind you, my hat's also off to UseYourName for the little daily collages (at least for the moment). |

Going back to that wiggle vision thing, I think it was pioneered on an old 70's, BBC childrens cartoon called 'rhubarb and custard' about (yawn) a dog and cat who argue. The whole series was drawn in felt tip pens and everything had to be drawn twice to achieve the wiggle effect. My info comes from one of the 'I love the 1970's' shows they constantly repeat on BBC2, can't remember which one though. |

Well I found this one site but there are a bunch of different ones. Anyone know about "NEW New 2003 single! Backed by covers of songs by Rolling Stones and Reid Paley?" What are the covers, how many versions of this single exist? Anyone know what the differences are? Thanks for any help you can give. |

I think there's only one Everything Is New EP, released by Cooking Vinyl. And it does have 2 covers of Reid Paley (Take What You Want) & the Rolling Stones (Down In The Hole). I got mine last week thanks to some fellow from the AbstractPlain and it's a very nice EP. Reminds me a bit of the Dog Gone EP.
