the burning brides should definitely be checked out. they have a nirvana/stooges/etc influence to them, i think their album is beginning to end rock goodness. they signed to the label that the white stripes did, so they'll be on mtv soon and i'll be perturbed about it just the same way but never the less.
the danielson famile gets pixies references alot in the reviews but i don't really see it. but there is nothing like the music they make, it's like insane carnival music almost. their most recent album was recorded by albini.
scout niblett, if you like cat power/pj harvey, i think she's better. very unique music.
also, the hot snakes, the apes, swearing at motorists, pleasure forever, bangs, the liars, marmoset, and doug martsch's solo album.
and epitonic.com for mp3s.

Wow..i have a blank face on all but Doug... I'm not really hooked on his new album, i really really love his electric and multitracked/multilayerd stuff, the new stuff is good, but i could really use something the brush away the last album which was a bit of a disappointment...

- yeah same here, i told one of my friends to go buy their album and a few weeks went by and she still hadn't taken me seriously. so i told her that everyday she let go by without buying it she would regret when she finally did buy it, so she bought it and said i was right.

Ben Kweller - Sure he may be young but he will only get better. He has staying power. His songs will only mature over time. I love his sha sha cd.

I posted this somewhere else on here as well, but I saw the Burning Brides open for The Breeders in February. They rocked!! I have their album too, and it's very good.
