ok my dad seems to have read
that fb is about to release pre-pixies demo's
some edited and some re-recorded (strange, how can you re-record a pre-pixies demo?)
But my dad doesn't know where he read it
so can anyone confirm this?

| the only stuff i've heard before the demos are 4 or 5 4-track recordings in black francis's apartment, one of which sounds like his girlfriend at the time does some backing vocals (chorus goes 'you're so dark, you're so strange...'). that's what it sounds like to me, i got those off of kazaa. |

Yes, the oft discussed "college demos". Those are pretty much the only known, surfaced pre-Pixies tracks around.

Not sure that I understand you, but you seem to have described the mystery. Those are the only four I know of that are attributed to Frank's pre-Pixies college days, but the question is whether they or something like them will be released. Maybe somebody can check recent issues of "Record Collector" for us.
Given that you're Russian, how did you become acquainted with the Pixies? |

''He's found the demo for The Purple Tape and he's just finished retouching it with Two Pale Boys, two avant garde musos who have worked with David Thomas of Pere Ubu. I haven't got a release date though.''

i was just watching the gouge documentary, and charles mentions a demo for the purple tape, just him and a guitar that was recorded at someone's house (i know i'm being real vague) to get all the songs down on tape first

This is really the only pre-purple tape stuff known to exist, though that's not to say there isn't more.
