No I didn't pick it up, but if its anything like the single on the radio then I'd have to agree. Its funny because before that song I never heard any Jane's on the radio. But Mariah, what the hell! |

Anatevka is the name of the village that Fiddler on the Roof is set in. Quaint little town. That's all I'll say for now since you'll be renting the show this evening (it's only 3 hrs) and laughing/crying/coughing for the next week unless I ruin it for you. |

Yeah, well it IS a musical. The nice part about seeing it on video is that John Williams did the score (not the original, mind you, but it's nice). And you have plenty of time to pick your nose, if your webcam is any indication... |

I'll have plenty of time to pick my nose as I watch the 3 hour movie. It had better be really freaking good. |

Well, if you're not convinced, rent one of the following two movies and watch it immediately following Fiddler: a) Batman & Robin b) The Avengers
You will then be convinced that Fiddler on the Roof may have been the greatest thing to happen to mankind. |

I know I mentioned this somewhere before, but as far as musicals go Jesus Christ Superstar is my fave. I sometimes get that music stuck in my head. Or like I also mentioned before Hedwig rocks but I never heard Frank do the carwash song. |

I don't know if it's in the league of extraordinarily bad films like B & R or the Avengers, but has anyone seen "Identity"? Holy Moses, that is a piss poor film. The big "twist" is a big flop, the "whodunnit" is weak, while the "thriller/slasher" elements are neither thrilling nor particularly gory. What a waste of time. I'm glad I only spent 3 bones on this dreck, and even then, I'd like a refund. But, it was that or Legally Blonde 2, so what could I do? |

JCS was OK, though as far as Webber goes, I prefer Phantom. A little less mozza in that particular soup. Though there were some catchy little tunes in there. On that note, Joseph & The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat had a catchy song or two as well. |

if you like quiet movies every once in awhile you might want to go check out winged migration if you see it playing at a theater near you

Is that a candidate for the league of extraordinary bad films or a genuinely good movie? |

Muahahaha. No, actually, no idea what that particular error code is. Try saving to your hard drive or a disk and see if that works. If it does, then it probably means that your file is in use by others or is write protected or something. Or that the drive is full, though on a server that's probably not likely. Or that Word sucks. If you can't get it to save and it's just text, copy it (select all the text) into another doc and try. |

Sarcasm hey? I'm not too on the ball today, I actually went out for drinks on a weeknight and now I feel like crap. I'm getting too old for that kind of shite.
And by the way, my server is full or the part of it I use is. |

Ah, you probably have soft partitions then (each user has a small portion of the total space allocated). Well, I DID say it was possible, just not that likely. So I'm not a complete idiot.
Yeah, I hear you. I'm still in student mode a lot of times and going out on weeknights will kill 'ya. But it still has to be done. I can't imagine confining all my fun to two nights of a week. But trying to get home by midnight is pretty lame. I'm still usually up 'til 1 or 2 anyway, but it's taking its toll. |

Yes, and an informed Mac user at that: I spend my days on a Wintel piece of shit and my personal life on an iMac. Been using Macs for about fifteen years. Must say I am saddened that Al Gore recently joined the Apple board of directors. |

No, done and still acting like a student. Going out weeknights, road trips for the sake of a road trip, stuff like that. As for kids, that's a LOOOONG way away, my friend. At least three months. |

3 months hey. Alcohol is too expensive here. I almost posted when I was drunk but I thought better of it. I mean just look at Little Black Francis's (is that right, Francis's?) grammar when he posts drunk. |

Francis' is correct, though I believe that you can add the extra s safely since the Americans do it. Just like you can call zed "zee". I think it'd be funny to see you post drunk, especially in the Factory.
As for BG, well, I'm around, but I'm finally done work, so not anymore. Plus, you're going. So fine, ditch me. |

I love JC Superstar. It's so blasphemous and the costumes are seventiestastic. We had a JCS party once that somehow turned ugly and dissolved into people having prolonged religious arguments in our front yard until dawn. Have I told you all about nearly being ejected from a theatre performance of JCS?
I missed the whole Sling Blade discussion a couple of days back, but that was filmed here in Arkansas and I know a couple of the actors. I was in a dramatic reading w/Natalie Canerday (she's the mother figure/Dwight Yoakam's girlfriend in SB) this spring, and it's always fun to watch her work. My husband's worked w/the actress who plays BB's girlfriend. So there's my tiny claim to Arkansas fame for today. Verrry tiny. |

Well, I was just humouring Carolyn and never planned to see it, but now I guess I'd better. :)
As for JCS, it obviously was very popular as it was (I believe) Webber's first hit musical, but it just never really did it for me. Maybe I hadn't developed enough of a sense of humour at that time, maybe I didn't care for the songs (though I do get the main theme in my head from time to time). I don't think I was offended religiously (I've always had a fairly good sense of humour about such things), and I can't see anything ever coming to heated arguments from it, but I just remember not really caring for it. The first play of Webber's that I REALLY loved and was one of the 'big four' pivotal moments of my musical life was Phantom of the Opera.
That said, I'd love to hear more about JCS and why you love it so, and definitely why you were almost ejected from the theatre. |
