Since Dean and I are always plugging up very relevant and informative threads with our nonsensical babbling and coy enchantments, we'd thought we'd make this thread, kind of like the henhouse. Where we can talk about extraneous topics such as the following:
Hey Dean how come some donairs and souvlaki have that yummy creamy dill sauce and some have that sweet sauce which I don't really like.

Oh, sure, when it was just you and I the name was great, but now it's all "COF came up with the name, not me." That hurts.
The yummy creamy dill sauce of which you speak is tzatiki (pron: suht-zee-key). If you ever get the chance to have lamb with tzatziki, it's like candy, I swear. But I'm not sure about the sweet sauce which you refer to... describe it in terms of yumminess. :)
When I make souvlaki, unless it's in a pita, it's all about lemon, oregano, and oil. There's a place in Greece where they have it just right and the souvlaki are cooked on wood coals, and it's the most delicious thing anywhere. It's just a little stand in a town on the way from Tripolis to Astros (the beach) and it's amazing. 5 of us finished of 40 souvlaki. Yeah. That's right. And I'm not all that big (yet) either. :)

Okay it was quite a witty name.
Actually I think that the sweet sauce is the difference between a greek and a lebanese donair. Not sure.

Yeah, I wonder what the proportion is. Maybe Canadians just have better musical taste per capita? If that's the case then I pity our southern neighbours.

Fly up to Saskatoon and you can feast on all sorts of Greek goodies the whole weekend. Pastichio, Moussaka, Tiropita, Gemithes, Dolmades, Baklava, Gallotrobourtiko, and of course, lots of souvlaki and spanakopita for all.
Have you ever made spanakopita, mere? It wouldn't be your friend anymore... :) |

Yeah, I've made it. It's a bitch. That's why I wish there were more friendly local Greek folks to buy it from (or a ticket to Saskatoon!) Tiropita frustrate me too--all that folding.
There's a fairly active Greek Orthodox community in Little Rock, and once a year they have this big food festival and we go eat until we're in pain or we run out of money, whichever comes first. |

Heh... the whole dumping the children was actually a plot perpetrated by several unnamed members of this board to have you pushed into an oven.
Yeah, Duke's is on the U of A campus, no idea what HUB is though, I'm afraid. And yes, we do indeed have a thread (and nothing else <rimshot>).
You guys should be thanking us for creating this general chat thread that you are all more than welcome to join in for everyday mischief instead of derailing topic after topic. Of course, with the sudden sexual/marital turn things have taken, I suppose I'll be accused of trying to have an orgy party, but... |

No that's the witch, it was the stepmom's idea to kick the kids out into the forest in the first place and then she's the only one to end up dying of starvation and the dad is then happily reunited with the kids who are now rich from killing and stealing from the witch.
