New Pornographers - Letter From an Occupant

Thanks to the double whammy of a breif mention in pitchfork and Dean rambling about the greatness of Mass Romantic, this song has filled my head today. And I haven't heard it in weeks!

And we thank-you. And on the thank-you note, Mike having lent me White Pepper will lead to me rambling about the greatness of Ween. Song of the day:

i like track 1, 3 and 11.. (yes, it's all in terms of track numbers with me)

the rest of the album is decent

Which one did you get floop? Mass Romantic or Electric Version? I like EC a lot more, but I have to spend some more quality time with MR. Electric Version is dee-lish, I highly recomend it. Great summer record.

I've been listening to the Rushmore soundtrack a lot lately. I have John Lennon's "Oh Yoko" stuck in my head today.

electric version. i don't think it's great as a whole, but there are some standout songs..

the chorus in "the laws have changed" (track 3) is like, the best chorus ever.

and i really dig "ballad of a comeback kid"..

do you ever with you could have produced someones album? i don't really know anything about producing, and it sounds pretentious to say, but i kind of wish i could have sat there with them and suggested some changes, to shape the album more to how I would like it to sound :)

The Rushmore soundtrack is "top class", as mr. nolan would say. Not to mention one of my favourite movies.

Yes, the Laws Have Changed is brilliant. That song has more hooks than Dolly Parton's bra. I like that whole record though, give it s'more time floop! And see 'em live if you can. They're tons o' fun, and Neko is quite the looker. And if you talk to her after the show, or while they're on stage, insist to her that you refer to your girlfriend as "lover". As in, "c'mere lover", or "she's my lover". Then report back, I want to see her reaction.

Other notables:
the Electric Version
From Blown Speakers
The End of Medicine
All For Swinging You Around
Testament to Youth in Verse
It's Only Divine Right

those are my favourites.

More hooks than Dolly Parton's bra... brilliant. Aside from The End of Medicine, those are my faves in that list. I love the second half of Testament to Youth in Verse (even if it's been done) and all of It's Only Divine Right. Best played loud. Seems that The Laws Have Changed is the most immediate track on the album though, and I do love it.

It's too late, floop. They've already made it into the duct work. We may have to seek professional assistance.

Heh... my sister was looking at my CDs and saw a Spoon record, so for Christmas she went out and mistakenly bought me The Spoons. Still in it's original packaging, collector's edition, for sale and in hot demand!

Sorry... my choice may have been premature/to tease Mike. I was just working and all of a sudden I had four chords come into my head. The beginning of a song, but I couldn't remember which one. Sounded Beatles-ish, but my gut said not The Beatles. Could be Ween, but I felt like I had known this song forever. And strangely, the little sound clip that was in my head, which initally was fully orchestrated, continued devloving. I had to think back to the sound that first popped into my head as opposed to the song, and I remembered there was a faster synth strings part, and then the organ came back, and I have my new song...

Frank Black- I Could Stay Here Forever

Sorry 'bout the story, I'm just falling asleep here.

Just a really, really beautifull love song. Gorgeous intrumentation, simple, sweet lyrics. Nice to see those weirdos do something "normal".

Flower - Liz Phair.

Cause I saw her in concert last night and the entire audience sang EVERY SINGLE WORD to this dirty song. It was so cool - hearing a huge group of people scream out "I want to be your blow job queen!"

My song was going to be Dreamland by Reid Paley, but then I read a post above where somebody mentioned Wouldn't It be Nice and now....

Wouldn’t it be nice if we were older
Then we wouldn’t have to wait so long
And wouldn’t it be nice to live together
In the kind of world where we belong

You know it’s gonna make it that much better
When we can say goodnight and stay together

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could wake up
In the morning when the day is new
And after having spent the day together
Hold each other close the whole night through

Happy times together we’ve been spending
I wish that every kiss was neverending
Wouldn’t it be nice

Maybe if we think and wish and hope and pray it might come true
Baby then there wouldn’t be a single thing we couldn’t do
We could be married
And then we’d be happy

Wouldn’t it be nice

You know it seems the more we talk about it
It only makes it worse to live without it
But lets talk about it
Wouldn’t it be nice

I like this one,

You’re kinda small
And you’re such a doll
I’m glad you’re mine
You’re so good to me
How come you are

You take my hand
And you understand
When I get in a bad mood
You’re so good to me
And I love it, love it.....
I'm too lazy to write it all out.
