Hi gang, I'm new to the boards here, and I was hoping some of you could help me out. I just purchased Oddballs from Spinart. I have all the other albums and was wondering is Oddballs any good? I'm always a little wary of B-side compiliations. I have yet to dislike anything (besides most of CoR), but I need a fix while I wait until September. Did I make a good move?
Thanks!

You have it, so you probably could decide yourself. I think it rocks. Village of the sun is one of my favs. |

Yeah, FB's B-sides blows away most a-side material from other artists. Man of Steel, Village of the Sun, Announcement, all tasty. |

"eargly" - someone with an ugly/unatractive ear/ears.
Unfortunately, in the context you've used it, this perfectly cromulent word makes no sense. |

Man of Steel wasn't really even a b-side, and a lot of those tracks shouldn't have been b-sides.

Oddballs is, in my opinion, just as good as any regular CD of his. All of the tracks are great. My favorites are Pray A Little Faster and Announcement |

I have to agree with everyone here...there are some excellent tracks on Oddballs, several of which belong on the regular albums.

it's my current fave, prolly cause i ignored it for so long. it would have been a crime for these tracks to go unreleased. |

i fell completely in love with this album recently. there's just something about it. a lot of the songs don't seem very melodic, but when you get into them it's hard to not here the perfect rock melodies. greatness.

I've seen wierd, unknown Frank Black albums at the Disc Exchange in Knoxville, strange imports (I would imagine) like "I Don't Want To Hurt You (Every Single Time)" "Hang on to Your Ego" and several others. Okay. Besides the self-titled, TOTY, CoR, Frank & the Catholics self-titled, Pistolero, Oddballs, Dog in the Sand, Black Letter Days, Devil's Workshop, what other albums/imports are there? By the way, has anybody heard the Brian Wilson version of "Hang On to Your Ego?"

hello everyone! back again from the sunny...climbs of california. i was hoping while there i would get oddballs, but all i could find was this bootleg called 'b-sides volume one' which doesn't even have most of the b-sides ie. man of steel and village of the sun, but has surf epic, amnesia and others, along with live stuff from the hello club(?)and peel session stuff. it is twenty two tracks in total. i was wondering if someone could list the tracks on the official oddballs? and i also got a bootleg of the black sessions, which doesn't include the 'kitchen tapes'. damn i wish i could find the real cds. oh and mike i got pistelero(and show me your tears-saw it used in amoeba and couldn't resist) so i ain't heathen anymore.

Welcome back superstar, you now officially smell like dirty LAX. It's just grand that you have come into posession of Pistolero and SMYT, you will enjoy them both highly. If you want a tracklist for Oddballs, got to www.ubl.com and search for Frankus. How was your trip? |
