Alright, this is the last time I'm gonna push this guy (my last cheesy attempt can be found in the "i'm so horny" thread littering the site), but you people have got to check him out. Go to the site in my profile and listen to the "You and Your Big Mouth" mp3. If you enjoy it (which you should) then buy Glob and Meditation Garden (greatest hits, but not the "greatest" hits in my opinion). His music is so unique, it just blows my mind that I have actually played with him (live and studio) and plan to again in the future. But yeah, at least listen to the mp3 a few times and let me know what you think of it. By the way, he does everything himself (when I say everything, that's exactly what I mean) in his home studio. Fucking brilliant.
P.S.- I plan on making my own greatest hits album with all the great songs you would never get to hear otherwise. I've got about 7 albums of his (about half of how many he has made) that I got from him, and there's no other place to get them. Trust me, he's got some amazing songs that, without my help, you all would never have the beauty of experiencing. So let me know if anyone is interested in the other albums or a CD with my personal favorites on it, because I would be happy to do any/everything in my power to give you open minded people some great/unheard/nearly inaccessable music. But the two albums that you can buy are a great introduction into the wonderful and strange world of Pete Labonne. So buy em', dammit. If for no other reason (than the fact that it's only $10!), do it so I will shut the hell up!

C'mon, c'mon, c'mon! Listen to it! Tell me that it sucks, I don't care, just give me something please. You could like it, but if you don't listen, you won't know.

Ok, if no ones gonna check it out, I'm just gonna keep posting in my own topic so it stays near the top, and eventually someone will crack and thank me/hate me dearly for my (unwanted?) persistance. It's not my music so I feel no shame in doing this. If anyone needs to feel shame, it should be you folks. You should be ashamed of yourselves for not listening to this music and making your life better in so many ways. Tsk, tsk, tsk...
Oh yeah, and in the advice of someone from another thread (Cartlands shameless...), the music is unlike many things you have heard, but has been compared to Captain Beefheart and such artists know for thier unique/crazy take on music (can be found in the reviews on the same website).
If you want me to stop being an ass, somebody better do as I say. I find it very easy to be an ass on the internet, but I prefer not to be...unless you guys are being assholes and not listening to me!

Alright, I actually tried it this morning before your two following posts, and the instrumentation is interesting, but the lyrics/singing are not my cup of tea at all. But obviously you enjoy it and anything's worth a try, so I appreciate you passing it along even though I didn't. But I also think that one post is probably enough for promotional sakes - it just makes you seem desperate and implies that maybe the music isn't that great if it doesn't promote itself. |

Thanks for listening and the advice, I just wanted to get at least one person to listen to it. Sorry you didn't like it, though, because I can't get enough of it. He's got a whole variety of songs, and if I were going to promote him I wouldn't have chose that one, but it's all I can give you. I tend to enjoy his more rockin'songs (though I like all of em'), ones that (sadly) you all don't have access to. Anyways, I'll shut up now.

Well, I'd certainly like to hear others, I have a feeling that was just what he was going for with You & Your Big Mouth, and I could see liking other songs if the style was different. Of course, the writing didn't cut it for me, but again, maybe that's localized to this song... |

Well, the song pretty much sums up his style, but I can't really say what you would think of other songs. Most of the time it seems he's being funny in a poetic kind of way. All of it seems to be choppy (beat wise), but when he gets rockin' on the guitar it just makes me wanna move in jerky motions, which is fun. He's just a crazy, funny, weirdo guy and definately not for everyone. I guess his music wouldn't have been AS great to me if I hadn't known him, but then again, if I hadn't known him I wouldn't have heard his music. At least you gave it a try and that's all I ask for. Many thanks.
