I'm going to the Brighton gig in a couple of months and I was wondering whether it would be possible to subtley videotape the gig with my camcorder.
I know Frank's not bothered about people taping as long as they don't get in the way. Also nobody seems to mind taking photos. So at the end of the day, there shouldn't be a problem, right?
Well I took a couple of 10 second clips of Veloria with my digital camera at the Underworld gig and they came out good. So why not expand the idea a bit? |

The problem with doing something like this is that you might end up concentrating on trying to tape the show and miss out on enjoying the moment. And bear in mind that it won't be easy getting the whole thing succesfully on tape- you might even end up spoiling other peoples fun... It's one thing putting a small MD recorder in your pocket and a little mic. in your jacket or hat(!), but trying shoot the entire concert undercover will take some doing, and will require your full attention throughout the evening.
Anyway, the best bootlegs I've heard tend to come from soundboard sources and videos where they had permission to shoot and side-stage access.
My advice will be to enjoy the show, and not to bother too much with trying to document it. |
