Thought I'd start my own floop-topic...
Do you guys prefer an electric shaver, or a straight razor? I find that electric irritates my skin for some reason. It seems like it should be the other way around, but it's not. Straight razors are better.
Girls, you can chime in on this too (if you shave your legs).

It's great. My husband briefly used an electric razor, but ditched it because it was hurting him. Hooray for the Mach 3.
I have a Venus (the chick version of the Mach 3.) It's the best. |

I use the Mach 3 as well. I have sensitive skin. I wish I could get an even closer shave. My face is stubly less than 12 hours after shaving. I am a man. I get razor burn from the Mach 3 still. Fucking sensitive skin.

you're a sensitive artist.
i'd love to use an electric, but they never seem to give me a close enough shave. plus, if you use one after you shower, something about your skin having been warm and wet makes it harder to shave.
i use bic twin disposables. the green ones.
i'm very anti- lubricating stip though.. those things leave a bunch of slimey shit all over your face, and, i think, actually make it easier to cut yourself (personal theory).
i always cut myself anyway.

Yeah I always cut myself. Every once in a while I don't cut at all though. I use some kind of gillette razor. It's alright but I might step it up a notch because you guys seem to like this Mach 3 business.
Electric always irritates just above my neck. My face turns red and it burns!
I actually don't use aftershave after I shave with a straight. I think my skin has gotten used to it because I don't get that irritated.

Electric was weird, it did weird things to my face too...and left it smelling funny.
I use a generic two-blade disposable thingies..since i'm opposed to Proctor & Gamble and vivisection. |

speaking of shaving - anyone seen the sprite ad for 'not using sprite as a shaving cream?' if not its hilarious - especially when the guy covers himself in tissue paper and puts a bit between his eyebrows :o) as for shaving - its gotta be a wet shave man. electric razors are crap.

I found my skin does not get irratated with the Norelco/Philips triple-head electric system. But I still use the safety razor once a week to really clean the slate. |

Shaving sucks no matter what you use. Electric just don't get close enough, but razor irriatate the hell out of my skin. And the jawline is a pain in the ass to shave because of the awkward angles and curves. I'm just waiting for the women of the board to tell us to stop complaining because at least we don't have to shave our legs. In case there's any question here madames, imagine the difficulty and annoyance of leg shaving, but on your face. |

I don't know about you guys, but shaving with either the razor or electric does little to nothing for me unless I shave up. If I let it grow long enough, then shaving down trims it nicely, but if I want to look like I shaved this morning, it's up. And it's painful. |

I use the new Intuition razor. What it is intuing about me is anyone's guess. That my legs are hairy? I don't know. Anyway, it's pretty good - but I have a Venus hanging in my shower as well. My friend designed their website. Ooo, thrilling! |

Nuthin' wrong with the Brazilian. And it's not the brazilian that's known as the "moby", the Moby is like it's name sakes' uber-cool coif. Not terribly different than the Brazilian, but also fun. You know, if you're not a girl. I wouldn't wanna shave down there neither. nerve.com has a great break down of various pubic maintenence techniques and critiques. |

I don't know what aftershave is for. I guess I thought it "cools you off" after you apply it. I tried it once and it burned.

I think the stuff that burns is supposed to act like disinffectant, and protect your skin (because of little nicks and cuts), also, it has a nice smell. Aftershave lotion, which I use (Nivea After Shave Balm) is supposed to moisturize the skin, helping against irritation. It works fairly well, though I plan on trying a different one when I'm through with the Nivea. |

I'm using CK Eternity which is more of a face balm than aftershave, softens the skin a bit, reduces irritation, smells nice, and holy crap I love I Want Rock & Roll (just came on). But I use it sparingly for fear of entering pizza faced paradise. |

Pizza face paradise, LOL...that one made me literally lol. Maybe I should try aftershave...is it good or bad for sensitive skin that gets irritated from shaving?

It's good Jim, but it can be tough to find one that works well for you. Like I said, I use Nivea After Shave balm, and it really help to cool razor burn and moisturize the skin. But there are many others out there to try. Just make sure is says "soothing" or "moisturizng" on the label. |
