Woah buddy, woah. I think your caps lock key needs some WD40. Oddballs does count as an album, but more along the lines of a compilation, and compilations (much like "best ofs") don't often count toward the artist's "main discography"

lets see.....he recorded them, he selected the song sequence, they do not appear on the other albums within his 'main discography'....i'd say, pull it out, slap it on the ass, hear it scream and call that mofo an honest to goodness album! |

Considering the songs were recorded at separate times and many were released before in different settings, that marks Oddballs as "compilation" which is like an album's younger, less paid attention to brother. Unless that little compilation turns out to be a greatest hits, in which case 20 years down the line, that younger brother becomes a nostalgia trip for lazy old fans who have all the bands albums on an obsolete format in a dank cellar somewhere. |

He counts it as an album? Do you have an email from him where he says it's an album? Yes, it's an album in the general definition of an album:
al·bum ( P ) Pronunciation Key (lbm)
n.
2. a. A set of musical recordings stored together in jackets under one binding.
b. The holder for such recordings.
c. One or more 12-inch long-playing records in a slipcase.
d. A phonograph record.
e. A recording of different musical pieces.
So YES, by definition of an album, Oddballs sure as shit is an album. Now, there are different TYPES of albums, the four main types being: the single, the EP, the compilation, and the LP. The term LP is rarely ever used, and generally people just call LPs "albums." When one refers to an album by a band, let's say, Black Letter Days, they'll call it an album. The type of album it is is an LP. SSMVGD? Technically an EP. Oddballs? That's a compilation. Now, you ask if it counts as an album. By album, we'll assume you mean LP. In that case, no, it is not an album...it doesn't count towards Frank Black's main discography, and an artist's main discography includes only their LPs and EPs. That's just the way it works...the songs on Oddballs appear on other albums, and by albums I mean "singles" (and, in the case of Man of Steel, "compilations".) In conclusion: NO, ODDBALLS DOES NOT COUNT AS AN ALBUM.
For quick refererence, go to http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&uid=CASS70305160117&sql=B54ri283c05oa and scroll down to "Discography"...see what I mean?
Fuck, what a waste of a post.
