OK, here is both a rant and a a request for help. So here goes:
Since I don't live in Europe anymore, I wanna catch as many FB shows as possible in this tour. So, I'm trying to build a plan.
8/10/03 - I AM KLOOT perform in the Sheperd's Bush Empire, London. To good to miss, right?
9/10/03 - London.
10/10/03 - Frank Black and the Catholics perform in Oxford. OK, that's north-west from London. Doable.
11/10/03 - Portsmouth - a lot to the South, but it's OK, definetly reachable.
then
12/10/03 - no show. What do I do? stay in the South? go back to London?
13/10/03 - a concert in Cambridge, Now that's some 200 km to the north of Portsmouth. So should I go? should I dwell in London more? anything else that's interesting around here...
14/10/03 - a concert in BRIGHTON. Now this is a rediculous. It's 250 km from Cambridge, but only 50 km from Brighton. I
I don't get the decisions - do Frank and company just love burning gas? the logical tour progression would have been Oxford- Postmouth- Brighten - London - Cambridge.
15/10/03 - London Astoria - OK, this is easy.
OK, so what do I do? right now I'm inclined to skip the Brighten and Cambridge shows. I'll probably spend the 13th-15th in London...
But what do I do on the 12th? 4 days in a row in London seems excessive. Ineed something different! Any good places to go around Southern Englad for that day?
And if anyone would like to meet me in one or more of these gigs, then yay :-) |

Not to belittle your dilemma, but these seem like short distances compared with the western North American tours. |

Even if the distances are small, they're just not logical. Why go up and then down?

You hit on it in your first post. We Americans are obsessed with burning fossil fuels. Frank wouldn't be satisfied if he didn't leave your island without unleashing massive clouds of hydrocarbons. |

Your dilemma seems quite simple from my point of view. If you stay in the south after the Portsmouth show and miss the Cambridge show (I know) then Brighton's within easy reach. This also means London is nice and easy to get to and you don't have to trek up to Cambridge and back.
Alternatively, it's only 3hrs to Cambridge from where I live and thats about 12 miles from Portsmouth. So if you really want to to the Cambridge gig, go up on the no gig day and have a look around the lovely University City of Cambridge. Then come back on gig night or stay there another night coming to brighton the next day. The trek to London is then dead easy.
By the way if you decide to stay in London you can still make the Brighton show as it's only about an 1hrs drive from London depending on where you're staying
Reality is a point of view |

CAN YOU IMAGINE LIVING IN ENGLAND OR FRANCE?.....WITH THOSE KINDA DISTANCES, I'D CONSIDER FOLLOWING FRANK FOR MOST OF THE TOUR. |
