If I had a high powered rifle (which I may or may not ), I would eliminate the following bands:
Papa Roach (Horrendous "Gouge Away" cover, but all other songs blow, too)
Eve 6 (I heard they did a cover of "Allison" which must blow, but I'm gonna kill em' just for the "think twice before you touch my girl" song. AHhhh, I can't fucking stand it!)
And every other wannabe "punk" band such as Simple Plan, Nickleback, and the list goes on (anybody own a ton of bullets?) that have at least one whole album about their girlfriends or actually being a "punk".
So c'mon people, let me know who you want me to snipe while I'm at the body piercing shop. I know you wanna vent.
P.S.- I'm not really going to kill anyone...I'll have my militia of trained, self destructable monkeys do it for me.
P.P.S- sorry if anyone finds this topic to be cheesy, stupid, ignorant, or any other choice words you have in mind. I just like putting down shitty bands , and I'm sure some of you would like to share your opinions also.

Yes, Eve 6's version of Allison is terribly awful and cheesy.
I guess you could eliminate just about any band with a number in their name. SR71, Blink182, Eve 6. Granted there are probably a couple good bands with a number in it, but the majority of them obviously suck because the only way they can show their creativity is buy adding a number to their band name. While you are add it, eliminate Creed 163.

Exception: ST37 out of Austin TX, is a really good intergalactic space-rock band that is on tour right now and me and steaknsabre highly recommend them if you see them coming to your town. Really nice guys too, to boot.

Now this is a good thread. I'll just take a look at all the songs in my WinMX folder that my brother downloads: Blink 182, Creed, Good Charlotte, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Lifehouse, LINKIN PARK!!!!!!, Staind, Sum 41. That's all I can think of right now.

By the way, I'm really a non-violent person. I'd rather they all just got some common sense and stopped making music so I diddn't have to send all my servants out to get them. They could be here, serving me drinks and sandwiches, and typing for me, hehe.

the entire pixies tribute album is awful. very, very awful.
i really cannot stand celine dion. im subjected to her all day long at work, where my co-workers listen to the most hideous lite muzak shit ive ever heard. celine and michael bolton, the two of them can go take a flying fuck at a rolling doughnut for all i care.

I would recommend boycotting mtv and most radio stations for starters. I used to think that I was missing something but I've learned the lights are on but no one's home fer real. I find music by searching for it.. anything that they want to smack you in the face with usually sucks these days.
You can check this station out online http://www.bravenewwaves.ca/ if you want to expand your musical horizons... go to cbc radio 2. From raymond scott to crazy maximalist stuff, every weeknight. I personally love it.

i try very hard not to be against stuff - it is a waste of time. But mkingicus's offer was impossible to refuse for my weakling soul:

i like the vines too. that song they had, "get free", that was on MTV all the freakin time is really bad, but the rest of their album is actually pretty good. i heard one of their songs in a record store and their policy is if you buy something they have in their cd player that day its half-price, so i picked it up.

| i disagree completly. and their music IS sticky. i just realized the potential benefits for mental health this thread has. maybe we should have one thread going with the sole purpose of concentrating negative vibes, anger and intelligent and stupid rants in one place. no cencorship - pure evil. it would be an interesting experiment. |

i think this is a little off-topic, but i saw that madonna/missy elliot GAP commercial this morning...it was terrible. absoluetly terrible. the only thing i liked was that missy was wearing a t-shirt with a huge picture of herself on it. that made me laugh, that someone would have the juavos mas grande to wear a freaking t-shirt with themself on it.

| I've heard a couple o' songs.... In the video where they play in the little club, he's got the whole Kurt thing down though. The hair, the facial expression (total disinterest), the clothes, the smashing the equipment, the way he moves, it just all seems very calculated. The Vines seem like the Gap Ad version of early grunge/gen X lifestyle. Man, "Gen X".... remember that term? It's been a while.... |
