PIXIES REUNION ON THE CARDS?
PIXIES frontman FRANK BLACK has not ruled out the possibility of a reunion tour - and has revealed the band still get together to jam.
The indie legends officially split in 1993 after recording five albums together. They are still revered by critics and an ever-growing legion of fans - the band's 1989 album 'Doolittle' was voted Number Two album of all time by NME and NME.COM's writers in our recent Greatest Albums Of All Time poll.
Black, now a successful solo artist, admits that the idea of reforming the band is never too far from his mind, but he has reservations.
He told London radio station XFM: "I do dream about the Pixies reunion I do have to say. It’s like those schoolboy dreams when you don’t do your homework and you don’t study for the test, but I’m at the gig and we’re hanging out, but its an utter failure and I don’t know the songs, and hardly anyone turns up for the gig and people walk out. That’s what I’m afraid of, that it’d be a big, big failure."
He added: "We might. We (bassist Kim Deal, drummer David Lovering and guitarist Joey Santiago) do get together and have private jams together, but not for public consumption."

That'd be pretty sweet to bait them like that. Especially since they're the ones always whining about him breaking up the Pixies, etc. "Uh, yeah, sure we'll get back together. <under breath> Dumbasses." |

I sincerely hope he's just messing with them. I love the Pixies to death but Franki is on a better route and a reunion would probably mean the breakup of the Catholics and that, to me, would be far more tragic than the breakup of the Pixies. Besides reunions almost never work. I think and hope he was screwing with everyone. |

I agree and I hope you're right about him just messin' with the NME. I suspect he was. Why would he reunite? Why would the others? |

I also hope this won't happen...The Pixies have to stay in our mind what they were and who can say today that the Pixies of 2003 would be as great as Pixies of 1989? FB was the major influence of the band and don't tell me that the only presence of Kim Deal and David Lovering would change that much current FB style... For me, a reunion would mean "getting more popularity and money" and I don"t think this is the way FB is thinking...he would not play acoustic show in front of 200 people if he was that financially ambitious... I think this is a discussion we should stop...My parents always say to me "Stop thinking about the past" and I have the impression that a lot of people can't do...and they can't do that much that they can't like FB songs...I have sometimes the impression I read more articles complaining about FB current music that about the shitty music (kind of) of a lot of current rock (I think) bands |

I almost thought he was joking at first, about still jamming. Even with Kim Deal? Obviously he sees Joey Santiago and Dave Lovering but that would be interesting if they all really did jam.
First thing that popped into my head was, he is pulling the legs of those people who only want a pixies reunion. Like, "yeah we jam but you can't hear it."

Oh, and if a Pixies reunion tour did ever happen, I'd go sporting a Frank Black and the Catholics t-shirt.

Gotta wonder... until it is announced who knows... traditionally in interviews and articles the idea has been shot down so many times so why now?
