we should have asked sarah and frank to put this sites address in the liner notes. i mean i dont know why he would be opposed to it. perhaps it would be sticky becuase it could represent some views the label and frank dont agree with, but i mean i think it would work out good for both parties.

Well, I think Frank said that he doesn't have an official website and doesn't want/need one, so I don't know if he'd be up for it... however, SpinArt does link to us which is pretty cool of them. |

That would be kinda neat.
By the way, what makes a bands' site official? If the band blesses it? Like what would happen if frankblack.net became official? Could that happen?

Basically a formality, I think. They call us his official website and then I suppose that we would probably have a closer relationship with his label(s) and maybe we would be responsible for being up to date and having all the latest information. Which, I suppose, we try to do as best as possible anyway, and we DO have people like Sarah and Jo posting (nevermind Frank and Scott). So would anything change? I don't know. Maybe Dave would get paid. :) I'm not sure that the content of the site would change all that much other than having links to purchase all his various discs and paraphenelia. But these are just my guesses... maybe Dave knows better? |

If it ever becomes official, then Frank Black can tab all the songs. Of course, I'll check over his interpretations just to make sure they are all correct.

I had Jeremy ask FB himself before the site went up if he wanted anything to do with the site officially and he said no. Maybe over time this will change, but I think we're about as official as it gets. No other site is as active or up-to-date as we are. And I'd be opposed to anyone being paid unless I'm included. :)

Dave could give you several shillings a year for your services. And then revoke them just before Christmas... :) |

This website is like free publicity for frank black. He can't go wrong there. The fact that it's FrankBlack.net makes it even sound official anyway. It's not like www.gurlzhomepages.com/member/tze3/frankblack/

it would be funny if that random webpage i typed in actually existed. Maybe it's a secret website owned by frank black where he posts his rarest songs ever.

hahah well thats what i mean by free publicity, i dont see how it could hurt him to put the address in the cd, official or not. i mean its clearly "robust" enough to be worth mentioning. perhaps a hint of technology on the jacket of his 2 track recorded cd would counter his modus operandi (spelt wrong perhaps?), but i think itd be good for both of us.

stay free - don't get official, either this site or Frank Black. It's all working very nicely without the legal business. |

well i didnt mean it would cost money, it would just get like ultimate advertisement. since anyone who buys SMYT is probably a frank fan and would be interested in knowing about the site

i think the main hesitation when a band doesn't want a site to be their "official" one is the whole "the sitemaster's/people on the boards/etc views do not reflect that of the artist" thing, and also the general difficulty of trying to keep even more people updated on your every move, in addition to your manager and your label people and your booking people, etc. While in regards to this particular site, the former is probably not much of a worry, it's generally not worth the hassle just to add the word "official."
And while the liner notes thing is perhaps something to think about in the future, 'tis true that anyone seeking FB-ness would go to the spinART site, from which they can quite easily click to this site anyway. |

Both very good points, sarah...I feel the same way. Fan sites tend to be more fun and detailed anyway...I could see them having problems with things said on the board, tabs being incorrect, etc.

Also if, say, like, oh I dunno, a Reverend with some website got mad at picture robbers at FB.net and decided to sue, the Frank Black team might be held responsible. Or maybe not, I'm not too sure about legal stuff like that.

I think i'm already responsible for whatever happens here..hehe..
As for officialness, Sarah's right, basically they'd take over it.
I generally define this as the Frank Black Fansite, which it is, thanks to you wonderful peeps!
