Ok, I am one of those who is waiting to buy Show Me Your Tears. I haven't even heard 2 seconds from this album, but I just found out last week, my brother somehow found a promo copy of it and bought it for 9 bucks. Now, he is visiting right now and he brought the album with him (cover and everything). This is so tempting people. I probably will end up listening to it and maybe copying it til i can buy it. You guys think I should? I know I've been giving speedy m and mereubu a "hard time" about even using new songs in pictionary. hehe. But this is much better than wimpy MP3 format. It's more personal and exciting. I flipped thru the insert and was happy to see pictures of the band! Just face shots, but still cool.

C'mon, c'mon, c'mon Derek. Try it, you'll like it. Everyone else is doing it. Think of the pictionary thread and how badly it needs an infusion of new songs. Do it for the kids.
This has been an official message from your conscience. |

Would anyone be kind enough to 'meet' me on kazaa or or WinMX? I really want this album now and haven't seen it once yet on any P2P searches. I'll definitely buy it when it comes out but I feel tortured having to lesson to acoustic radio tracks rather than the real thing. If anyone feels like sharing, send me an e-mail so we can work out a time. I'm a broadband user if that helps. :) |

Well if everyone else is doing it... I think I might just have to listen to it! I'll let you guys know if I do. Knowing me, I'll cave. If a new Frank Black album is sitting in my abode, it's hard to ignore.

Well, I'm not sure how it would be a collectible because it seems like it will be exactly as it is when it's released in the store (except for the whole punch in the bar code).

My brother got it from a store called Record and Tape Traders (around Baltimore, MD). Now correct me if I'm wrong people, but isn't it illegal for stores to sell CDs with a hole-punch in the UPC/bar code? Being that it's a promotional copy. He said there was only one copy of the album.
p.s. - I've listened to the first two songs already. I've caved. I can't help it.

I haven't listened to any more songs since my last post, so, I wonder if I will refrain. Eh, probably not.

I don't want to download the album, but if I found a promo copy, I'd buy it and listen to it. Waiting for the official release date is not the point, the point is getting a proper CDs instead of mp3 files and being able to listen to the record in its entirety.

I agree Denis. It's something about the stinky MP3 file that turns me off to hearing it before the release. a) because the quality isn't up to par and b) because you don't have the cover/insert/CD case.
A promo copy is a different story and that's why I'm gonna listen to the whole thing. 1411 kbps baby!

Dang, my brother got it for $8.99 (plus sales tax). Why would someone want to pay 31 bucks for it when you could just wait less than 2 months to get it for 18 bucks cheaper? I imagine there are people on this board who would probably pay the 31, but you are crazy if you would.

Oh, does anyone want me to scan and post the pictures of the Catholics that are inside the insert? I can do it for 5 bucks a Catholic, and 10 for Frank Black.

I haven't finished it yet. hehe. I might run to the library just so I have an excuse to listen to it in my car. I could listen at home, but I enjoy most of my music in the car. Not to say I don't enjoy music in my home stereo.

In Canada, CD prices range from around 12 bucks to 25 or so. Stuff like Frank you can (should) only really get at cool record stores, and it usually around 20 dollars. Maybe if HMV carried it (which they might), it would be more like 15, but I'd rather pay extra and support my local indie rock store. |

I don't think the Canadian dollar compare that poorly to the Euro. The Pound, yes, but not the Euro. 1 Canadian dollar is about .63 Euro. So it's not as bad as think. Still bad though. |

You Canadians should cross the border and buy CDs in America. You know, because it would be so worth it to spend that extra gas money just to save $4-6 (US) on a CD. Do you guys get shitty CDs like celene dion, avril lavigne, and nickelback for cheap because they are from canada?
What is the conversion rate of Canadian money/American? I need to feel like I am culturally diverse.

No, Celine, Avril and Retardback cost just as much here. Only it's more embarrassing, becusae they're from here. Oh Chad Kroeger, why won't you just die? The Exploding Hearts get killed in a car crash, but Nickleback will live forever. And I don't even like the exploding hearts! I'm not sure what my point was anymore...
If you're keen on conversion rates, check out www.xe.com. I think the Loonie is about 71 cents American right now. Stupid BSE...... |

Ok...
so I listened to all but 4 songs on my drive. Sounds pretty good so far. I think it will take me a couple of listens to be really in to it. And that usually happens with me and FB albums. I was a little worried at first listen to Devil's Workshop, but after a week I loved it.

At last I'm listening to SMYT. After 24 hours of heavy rotation I can say that my favorite songs are: Nadine Everything is new Horrible day (strange cause I didn't like it that much the first time I heard the live version) Massif Centrale (awesome!) When will happiness find me again |

I lived in Baltimore for 15 years, and NOW Frank Black decides to have a lyric with the word Baltimore in it? After I don't live there anymore. Great timing Frank. You spoil California and its residents, and random places all over the world with lyrics about them, but when it's finally time to say "baltimore" I no longer live there.
