Where did you buy tickets for the October gig? Do you have to be in the UK to do so? |

It would be nice to be there! I will probably hold off on my Frank tickets until I get PLANE tickets and firm up where I will be staying - but it is my current dream. We shall see. |

I saw Frank in the underworld, it is a great venue for him. Its really small, so its gotta be a solo show. Last time he dedicated a song for me, but that was a long, long time ago. |

I've just booked my tickets too. Will be my first Frank Black gig and as you can imagine, I'm rather looking forward to it!
So anyway... if it's a Frank solo gig, does that mean just the man and his acoustic guitar? Will this affect what kind of setlist he will play? |

I've seen FB&C four times, but never Frank solo.
Still, judging from postings on this board and word of mouth in general, it seems that solo Frank gives you a better chance to hear a wider variety of songs, maybe some older stuff that you wouldn't have too much of a chance seeing if it was a Catholics show. For example, a recent setlist that was posted for the NYC Fez show said that he played "Humboldt County Massacre." LUCKY FUCKERS, that is a great song
And yeah, it would most likely be Frank & his acoustic if it is a solo performance. |

Maybe forum folk should wear some kind of identifiable motif when they go to see a FB show... |

A carnation it is then! Any particular colour?
Does anyone know what the policy is about taking photos at the Underworld, or whether Frank objects. I remember going to see a band named Salad (who were big Pixies fans) at that venue back in 1997. I took plenty of photos then and got no trouble for it. Take a look at my website:

Also, I presumably minidiscing is not approved of? |

[OFF TOPIC] They sadly split up in 1998 due to Marijne van der Vlugt (lead singer & ex-MTV VJ) wishing to pursue other projects. She's currently working for a design / promotion agency. Rumours abound about musical careers for the other band members. Paul Kennedy (guitarist) decided to write a book of childrens' stories. Pete Brown (bassist) became a web designer. Rob Wakeman (drummer) is now a name in the techno scene. Charley Stone (live guitarist/keyboardist/backing vocalist) went on to play with Gay Dad and Spy 51.
It's kind of sad that they never got the popularity they deserved, but I guess we all know about that... I wouldn't be bothered, but it was obviously the lack of success that led them to disband. Still I have happy memories of gigs back in the mid-90s.
They were quite vocal about their love of the Pixies. Some of it shows through in their quirky tunes. Have a listen to some of the tracks off Singles Bar if you want to know what I mean. [/OFF TOPIC]
I really miss going to gigs. My last one was three years ago now. I'd forgotten how much live music used to mean to me. Can't wait until July! |
