What was the last Vinyl album you bought?

I don't mean the last vinyl album you bought when you started buying vinyl AGAIN, I mean, what was the LAST VINYL album you bought before you went to cassette or cd and why.

For example:

The last vinyl album I bought was Starfish by The Church. It was $6.99 new (as in, it just came out). I put it into my car and before I got home it warped into a dried piece of lasagna due to the Nashville summer heat.

I said fuck it and never bought vinyl again.

Later on of course, I realized that AI missed the sound of a real vinyl album so I picked up a few things here and there, but overall, that was it.

Let's hear yours.

Uhm since I wasn't around in the vinyl area (well I was but I was very young) I can only speak of vinyl I bought in the cd area.

it's an album of
Add (n) to x
but a few months ago didn't really listen to it

I do own a lot vinyl though
I bought a lot of Queen records on vinyl (and they are a good reason to stop buying vinyl in general since it are a lot of their 80's shit records)

my dad owns 300 records or something

I dig your music taste!!! I think that my last vinyl was Motley Crue Dr Feelgood, or Skid Row - Youth Gone Wild EP.... then again it could have been Iron Maiden - Fear of the Dark. Long live stadium rock. I'm seeing Maiden in just over a months time, definately the cheesiest rock band since the Quo went downhill.

Tough question. I think the first record I bought was on CD. But the last vinyl I bought was a 12" ep of minimal techno artist Cabanne, last week.

Last LP was too long ago to remember. Probably in 1985. Could have been Van Halen, Rush, Scorpions, Michael Schenker Group or Led Zep. Either way I never listen to my LP's anymore. I do know I stopped buying Ozzy Osbourse's music during the LP format, Bark At The Moon, and it was all down hill from there.

Unless they come up with a vinyl drive for my computer, I'm afraid that I will never have purchased one in my life - though I had them purchased for me when I was younger. Ahhh, Fred Penner.

Ya I was quite the headbanger when I was younger. You know the lumberjacket or jeanjacket, Reebok hightops and possible a mesh shirt, god I was cheesy! You lost me at Skid Row though. But Iron Maiden rules, long live Eddie!

Embarrased to say my last vinyl record was "Briefcase full of Blues" by the Blues Brothers. It was a gift OK and I was still in my mid-teens. My FAVORITE lp was "Bloodshot" by The J. Geils Band. It was a transparant red album that seemed to contain all of the mysteries of life. Then they started writing pop songs and became irrelivent MTV pop stars.

yeah carolynanna, but, before that they were a Stonesy Boston band with real licks. Actually a band that was considered a US Rolling Stones in the early 70's. Then they recorded freeze-frame, which wasnt all that lame, but, it started a slide down the slippery slope to lameness.

WHY ARE YOU EMBARRASED ABOUT THAT?

Are you aware that the "Blues Brothers" band was none other than STAX, none other than BOOKER T. and the MGS. That was the baddest ass collection of players next to the Funk Brothers of Motown.

Be proud you had that album. That is a great album.

I've got Everything I need (Almost)
B Movie Boxcar Blues
Rubber Biscuit

all those songs are bad ass and Belushi and Akroyd were funny, yes, but they weren't making fun. There's a difference.

I'm embarrased because Dan Akroyd has become a bit of a cartoon in the music arena IMO.

You are right about the players (dont forget Duck Dunn, bones, the shiv, etc.) absolutely top notch, and I love Belushi.

I do love "I've got Everythin I need (almost)" as well as hey bartender...

OK dammit you're right, I'M PROUD TO HAVE OWNED BRIEFCASE FULL OF BLUES!

I think my last vinyl was REM's Life's Rich Pageant, but that is by no means my most embarassing vinyl. I've got a big trunk full of crap that I can't bear to part with now b/c it has such fabulous kitsch value. I've got 13 Styx albums on vinyl. Krokus and Cyndi Lauper, Toto and The Hooters all mingling together in a 2' x 3' space of solid bad taste. I once had a Secret Shame party, and all that I had to do to decorate for it was stick my vinyl collection to the walls. Ouch!

I'm too young to have switched to cd's but like Brackish Girl, I was raised on my dads great vinyl record collection, Led Zepplin, Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabboth, Buddy Miles, Uriah Heap, Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac. The three peices of vinyl I own are Frank Black Live in Paris, The Breeders Head to Toe EP and a live Pixies bootleg in Hamburg, terrible qauilty, but on lovely multicolured vinyl. The only person I remember getting anything on vinyl when I was younger was my sister, who got Jason and Kylies, Especially For You single, I think my brother and I destroyed it though!
