I'm sorry and I feel really embarrassed asking this question, but who is everyone from left to right on the DITS front cover? I compare it to other pictures of the band and it's like none of them look the same at all, or maybe I'm just blind. |

Did anyone else ever notice that someone reversed the image of the band on either the front or back cover of the record? It may have been an accident or done for compositional purposes (i.e., the group shot on either side looked better when facing a certain direction), but it's definitely flopped.
The dead giveaway is the stripe on Rich's jacket...

If you have a simple program on your computer called Sound Recorder, you can reverse songs. I think it comes with windows. I had it with windows 98, and windows XP has it too. All you have to do is turn the song into a WAV file, and then open it with sound recorder, then click reverse. It is fun trying to find backmasking messages even though they aren't intentional

if your asking because you plan to try frank_black_francis' idea and play the swimmer backwards...he was joking. That is an old Beatles reference... |

if you take out the Dog In The Sand CD sleeve, lay it out on the table and fold it hexagonally, starting at each corner.. then fold outward, into four equally sized triangles and hold it up to a light six inches from the table, it should cast a shadow that says "i love carne asada tacos" |

Speaking of backmasking, one time I found this old record of this Christian folk singer (scott wesley brown), so i decided to have a little fun with it so i manual made the record go backwards. I made out devil stuff in the backmasking and I laughed my ass off. I transfered some of the devil references to tape but i lost it. Some stuff:
"Eat the devil for he wish you well"
"Get used to your devil"
Oh my gosh it was hilarious. And it wasn't a total stretch because it actually did sound somewhat like what I quoted.

Aw, come on folks.
I know that album design is one of my part-time gigs, but surely I can't be the first person to notice that reversed photo thing.
I'm not THAT obsessive.
Right?

I had noticed it too. As you said, the stark asymmetry of Rich's jacket gave it away. |
