my birthday is a mere 6 days afterwards - i consider this the earliest (and best) gift i'll recieve all year. i'm gonna try and tape the show - i'm gonna call the Fez early next week and ask their stance on taping so i don't get my friend's borrowed MD player taken away...this certainly makes up for the fact i can't get to the TMBG show the week before...

I/m visiting friends in NYC, and after catching a fucking great set by The Fleshtones (they're back and kicking ass again), I headed down to Hank's Saloon for a 2:30 am beer.
I thought Reid Paley's Trio was playing there the next night, but I had the date wrong and we had missed their show. After they packed up I chatted with Reid about Frank's date with TMBG, and that's when he told me about the Fez gig, which he seemed to think was going to be unannounced and "secret". Oh, well.
He also confirmed the tales of Frank hitting small bars around the country unexpectedly on his way to New York.
Glad to see word is out and many of you can make the show. I'll be back in Georgia (we're leaving the day before the TMBG show), which really sucks.
Hope everyone has a great time. Please try to tape these gigs, and if you do, contact me privately, as I'll be happy to trade some good stuff for excellent-quality recordings of both of them...

To bad I am in Europe and feeling the pain they have had to endure for so long, but unlike them I will return soon. Still fighting (tanning) for my country.

I will be there with a posse of frank-lovers! See you all there.

I just went to the Middle East and got 4 tickets for Saturday's show, May 31st. However, I actually can't be there on Saturday. What I would like to do is swap these tickets for tickets to BOTH Thursday and Friday. If anyone has tix to Thus or Fri and doesn't mind going on Sat, or if anyone has an extra ticket to Thurs or Fri and would like to go Saturday as well, (and live in the Boston/Cambridge area) respond back and let's make a deal. |

anybody have a setlist? I know he started the set with 'The Shrimp Song' while Reid was still onstage. Then an attempt at Sister Isabel After that I'm unsure. I know I heard Bullet, Manitoba, The Snake, Nadine, John the Revalator, Nimrod's Son, Holiday Song, Western Star. If you missed this show you missed a really great night. Frank and Reid were very funny together doing their little 'dueling banjoes' skit, my only hope was that they would sing a song together. This was a Frank junkies dream gig. I didn't miss the band and Frank just rolled through songs. How long are we gonna have to wait till we hear San Antonio, Tx Live? |

What a show. Lots of fun. I don't think I have ever seen such an odd ball performance! He seemed pretty drunk, as did Reid. Lots of fun. Very laid back. good sound, great selection of old and new material. HE PLAYED BRACKISH BOY! very cool. cold heart of stone/ wave or mutilation/where is my mind/ robert onion/ the swimmer(amazing live)/ i'll be blue/ Jumping Beans/ and many more. just off the top of my head those were amazing. oh and black rider, abstract plain/ jeez it was a long show. from about 9:40 when frank joined Reid till almost midnight.
