Is there just one version of this song? I know it was on The X Files CD and on SSMVGD .. are both these versions the same?

It was on Oddballs and the X-files, but I assume that's why you neverminded the question. But I just wanted to clear that up in case someone wanders in this topic and thinks it's on SSMVGD and then they freak out and think they have the wrong SSMVGD.

It wasn't on SSMVGD, lol, as Derek said. And for the record, they have played it live. |

How do we know there's a BBC version, for the sake of my morbidly obsessive curiosity and the fact that Man of Steel is one of my favourite FB songs, which is a pretty impressive compliment. |

There is also a DBS version of this song.
I recorded it at Derek's Bedroom Studio in Feb 2003. I threw together an acoustic version with a couple guitars, some piano, and a bass. I might post it someday on the FTP, but not as part of the tribute album of course.

Wow, I'd like to hear that whole session. I do have I Need Peace (titled "Close Your Eyes"), Modern Age, Everyone Is Wrong...I think I have Skeleton Man as well. Don't have the rest. The quality is kinda crummy too. |

yeah, those early 96 sessions are great! (one is Peel, one is Radcliffe). I love that little jam they do right after Jumping Bean.. sounds kinda like an alternate take of Modern Age maybe? It's just a few seconds long but man I love it. And FYI, as was mentioned by Harris a while back, Everyone is Wrong is a song written by Lyle.. possibly the only original song Frank's played that he didn't write. ..does that make any sense? you know what i mean. And back to Man of Steel.. yeah the Oddballs version is a slightly different mix than the X Files comp. If you REALLY want to go into the history of the song, back in '93 Frank jammed a bit of the song at an acoustic session, just instrumentally, and the DJ guy sang some words over it. |
