Thanks. Where is everybody? Haven't seen many sales from this group :( ...but the response from those who've bought the SF and Chicago shows has been fantastic. Keep your emails coming!

Mike,
Do fans from the boards here at frankblack.net get a discount on the show? Especially those who bought the original Chicago show (like me)? ;) I am eager to hear this show but would love a discount. Maybe I'm cheap, lol...

Christ, why is everybody trying to get a discount out of the guy? He's providing a service that has a price. Either you choose to do business with this company or you don't. It's as simple as that. I have not purchased one of the shows yet, but I will. And I'll be paying in Canadian dollars, which makes it more expensive for me than the average CD I'd buy in a store. It's still a deal. |

I have bought 2 shows now from Mike,, and the quality is awesome! It is no different than a label released "live album" in my opinion, and to hear the new songs "New House of the Pope" and "Goodbye Lorraine" as well as "Nadine" ,"Horrible Day", "Massife Centrale" and "Manitoba" in such quality this early before album release is worth the asking price in itself! Please everyone, download this, burn it, and enjoy. Mike, can't wait for the new show to be available!

We will give everyone who bought the Slims show correctly edited versions of those two songs. Should be up tomorrow and you'll get an e-mail notification as to where to download.
Again, thanks for all the feedback.

Well, despite my misgivings about the price and everything, I figured that I should buy one show from the tour that brought him through Sunny Saskatchewan (AKA The Land of The Living Skies or The Gap or The Skies of the Living (and never dying) Snows ). The drums seem a little weak, especially in the loud parts, and I had a few problems downloading (two hours in, 5 mins to go, my mouth full of drool, "the connection was closed" and I had to start over), but the download is well worth it. 34 songs is a huge amount, not to mention a lot of banter and many funny moments with Eric & Frank, plus a chance to hear Eric solo, several of the new songs (including Don't Clip Your Wings, which is, to my knowledge, the only known recording of it), and a lot of great FB&C's stuff. Worth the money no matter how you cut it - especially since this is conclusive and incontrovertible proof that Frank does occasionaly talk during shows).
Should forum members get a discount? Yes. Should HearItAgain have fixed the problem with Los Angeles being divided into two songs after they heard about it from Broken Face? Yes. (hopefully they'll fix this and contact those who downloaded with the new files or something)... oops, just read Mike's reply above, and they've done this - good work. Should I recommend, based on my listening pleasure, that you check this concert out. Definitely. Long, enjoyable, comprehensive, and at time downright tasty, the only thing missing from the current rotation is a little Freedom Rock.
Having said that, that will be the last one I d/l for awhile since they're so much, maybe next year, we'll see... especially if they pull some new ones into the mix, which inevitably they will. |

I have the slims and chicago show, and all in all, they are pretty cool..bottom line is your paying $12 for his monopoly access to the board, which otherwise previously none of us had. The mix of slims is much better. Like most veteran tapers, sure would like to see the ability to have these downloaded in Shorten (SHN). But that would probably blow out his business model due to the bandwith charges that would be incurred.
To me the most annoying process in using mp3 besides the compression is spending an hour or two in a audio wave editor clipping out the blank spots created by mp3 being converted to wav to make cds. You have to take all the mp3, jam them into one big wave and then at the gaps between songs edit out little blank spots that happen at the beggining and end of each track. When your selling a product that is supposed to be download and go, well quite honeslty your misrepresenting this. 80% of the people dont even know how to do what I just described, rather they just make the discs with obnoxious noises between one track or another (using dao) or go clueless stlye ,burning track at once with 2 second gaps.
So it would be nice if this could be fixed (again shorten SHN eliminates this problem)
otherwise keep working on it, just please give us a SHN and or Hard CD option.ill pay a few extra bucks for it, maybe a dual cost platform would be the way to go..That way the kids who are sweating the college beer money could by the mp3 for $6-$8 and do all the work themselves building the cds, or just charge $15 for us old working people who just want the thing to show up in the mail ready to go like Pearl Jam discs do

Scott, why don't you just use Nero or something and crossfade 0.5 seconds to remove those blank spots? You won't even know they're there, you get no stoppages in music/crowd noise, and you save two hours editing and so forth. Mind you, if you're really concerned about exact audio duplication and so forth, then maybe that's not for you, but it does the trick in my books.
For me, I can't distinguish a 192 kbps file from a WAV file, spaces aside, I suppose, and I really do dislike SHN's and all their interface headaches and so forth, nevermind the larger size for what, in my opinion, is not a substantial increase in quality, and is a substantial decrease in portability, usability, and ...uhh... sexability. :) But to each their own, I suppose. |

I just finished downloading it. I haven't listened yet but I'm sure it will be great. Thanks Mike and hearitagain.net for providing this. I'm going to split the cds up between New House of the pope and Horrible Day unless someone has a better suggestion?
By the way, why isn't the other show up yet? |

i have to say i'm very impressed with the show recording and the service from hearitagain.net. i'm currently one of those people with a slow connection, and they've accommodated me be letting me download the show in parts over the course of this week...very good stuff. it's definitely worth the price for those of us who can't wait for the new album to hear the new songs. |

Nimrods(no_space)Son, the gap removal has been discussed in various areas, but long story short, make sure your burning software does crossfading and crossfade 0.5 seconds. Perfect for removing the MP3 gap problem. |

I would love to purchase a CD of the Slims show (I was in the front row)but I don't have the time, inclination or smarts to download it. Anybody interested in sending me a CD for a Jackson? By the way, what this recording failed to capture was the scrawny 18 year old kid at the edge of the stage trying to show Frank his freshly inked Pixies logo tattoo. As Frank was belting out 'Gouge Away", Junior was peeling off his soggy bandage in a futile attempt to be noticed by Frank. Quite amusing.
If any audiophiles are interested in my offer let me know.

Just downloaded the show and its quality and length are great. Just note, however, that this isn't a show typical of FB's current tour. It's heavy on the organ (Eric Drew Feldman joins) and sans Rich Gilbert on lead, which lends itself to a sound akin to the '93 bootlegs like "Black is Beautiful", etc...althgugh there's still pedal steel in there somewhere. Also, there's a lot of chatter, which is great, too. Just wanted to throw that out there (I know some of it has been mentioned before) so you have a better idea of what you're about to hear if you D/L the Slim's show.

I think it's the other way around, EDF only plays on the first 7 songs, and then Rich, Dave, Dave, and Scott come on. Rich plays lead gtr and keys, as he did at the El Rey show a few days later. |

Cause you said they sub Eric for Rich. They sub Rich for Eric. DUH. I thought I knew you. That's it, I'm doing His Kingly Cave byself, and I'm taking your charicature down from mount lushmore, and I'm pulling your favorite song from the jukebox. |

Upon further reading, I'm confused, disturbed, and highly, acutely, nipple sensitivity increasingly aroused. I'm not sure what it should be. "Sub Eric for Rich" or vice versa. You could make arguments for both. I mean from a syntax stand point, grammatically. Obviously, it was Eric first, then Rich, but how does one properly say it? Which one is correct? Is there a "right" way to do it? If it itches for a while, and the ointment makes it go away, am I completely cured? Is carolynanna really qoute "awesome"? Oh, save me jeebus... |
