I was a bit suprised nobody posted anything about this for the Seattle date. Frank Black performed a solo acoustic set at Easy Street Records (Queen Anne Location) at 7pm. He also did a signing afterwards. To the best of my memory, the setlist was as follows:

Crackity Jones
Whiskey In Your Shoes
Where Is My Mind?
I Gotta Move
Mr. Grieves
Lorraine
California Bound
Bullet
Horrible Day
Cactus

I'm sure I botched the order, except the first and last songs. The set sounded terrific, though Pixies heavy (perhaps due to the cross section of people attending). I never thought I'd get an opportunity to hear Frank playing alone...

What suprised me most was how chatty Frank was! The complete opposite of an FBTC performance. Early on, after mentioning the upcoming album and release date (and insisting that he wasn't there to push the album) he mentioned he might be talkative since he hadn't eaten in quite awhile, and he was a lightweight. The Easy Street folks fetched him a Pabst Blue Ribbon (?) which launched a story about the inspiration of Gotta Move. He also told a funny story behind 'Bullet'. He listed all the CD's he bought that day, and thanked David Bowie for covering 'Cactus'.

If any of the 80 or so people there have a different song or a correct order, let me know! It was strange going to the Showbox and seeing him a few hours later, especially since he fit a lot of the songs from the in-store early on into the Showbox set.

I'm sure I'm with everyone when I say:

"What the $#^@$# were the stories of Gotta' Move/Bullet"

Of course, we've all heard the basic story(s), but maybe he had something to say that we haven't heard before?

What CDs did he buy! Frank always seems chatty at his solo acoustic in stores, more reason why VH1 needs to have a Frank Black Storytellers
