Maybe you punks over the pond (Bazza in particular) might have a clue if you kept up with the sporting events we have to offer over here - instead of consuming all of your energy on Gaelic football, hurling and Guinness all day. Go Wexford! Anyways, that's all I had to say.

I've only been to one hockey game in my life. It was a team known as the Baltimore Skipjacks. They don't exist anymore, and I don't even know what division or league they played in. But i did buy a mini-hockey stick plus I got a puck because I went with a birthday party (I was in elementary school) and the dads had connections.

hurling is more fun than hockey and more dangerous too. i have 4 stitches to prove how dangerous it is and one of my friends lost a testicle playing it.

What brand of hockey are we talking? The kind with mud or the kind with padding?
Either way its barbaric, unecessary and for the most part only good as a spectator sport...

there was an ad here in ireland for GAA (thats the crowd that militantly (allegedly) run hurling and gaelic here) a while ago -
ask not what your county can do for you - what can you do for your county?
does losing a bollock count?

All I want is for the Oilers to beat the Stars. I think we deserve that. A Canadian team should win. Its our game. Americans come and rape everything good here.
that should get a rise out of someone. |

I was sleepwalking through this first round series because the outcome is so predictable. Now I will enjoy it moreso knowing that it cements at least one Canadians inferiority complex. The oh-so average oilers shouldnt be in the playoffs in the first place. And yes, chances are, whatever Canadians attempt, Americans can and will do better. |

You mean the teams which happen to have American cities as their home and which are comprised with 95% + of Canadian players? You mean like when we pitted the Canadian PLAYERS against American "players" in, oh, I don't know, the Olympics, and America lost out on both men's and women's titles (with the women against impossibly biased reffing, btw) to us. Yup, I definitely think that was the most intelligent thing ever to have been said on this forum.
Anyway, I don't want to turn this into an America vs. Canada thing, because that would be descending down to three year old level, but I think that in the case of hockey it seems to be more a matter of who's richer than who's better. And I think that the whole world has seen who's richer (as if there were any doubt), especially in the last few months. |

I couldnt agree more. Nowhere in my post did I say US hockey is better than Canadian, so, I assume you are responding to someone elses post. But, the Stars will dismiss the oilers from the playoffs, on that we can all agree. Canada losing a gold medal in Hockey should be greeted the same way Americans losing a gold medal in Basketball is, with shock.
The American vs Canada line was a response to the 3-yearold level garbage about Americans 'raping everything good here'. That type of thinking is merely a coping mechanism when the country just to your south out performs yours in just about every measure. And the gap keeps getting larger. Must be because those Americans are holding back the canucks eh??
Also, wealth from a societal standpoint doesnt appear from thin air. The US has created an environment that breeds success. Canada has moved further and further from the American model over the years and not coincidentally so has their economic performance. Even while being in a country filled with resources the Canadian economy never is able to pull all of the dead weight of its government. |

I'm not bitter, just a bit belligerent. I didn't realize that there was someone named Dallas in here so that first Fuck you wasn't for you it was for the Stars. Sure the Oilers are basically a farm team, and the Stars pretty much take them out every year. Its hockey, we argue and root for our team. But always remember, wealth does not necessarily translate into success. Talk to you after the next game JD. Cheers!

Dont get me wrong, I didnt take that personally. I assumed it was for the team specifically. I just stepped in for my team as you did.
I dont measure success by wealth, if I did, many would consider me a failure, others might think otherwise, its all relative I guess. I measure my personal success based on the happiness of my wife and kids and then myself.
And if we are going to step out of our 'fan' uniforms for a second, I have to say that the Oilers are a damn salty team that is making the stars pay a physical price for bringing the puck in the zone... |
