I recently went to the Frank Black show in subarctic Edmonton (thats in Canada for all you ignorant bastards) and I'm amazed (Sorry I'll try to keep the lyrical references down to a minimum and I promise not to say eh). I really never thought he would tour here and not only did I get to go to the concert, they played tons of Pixies tunes and they played headache, and I got to say hello. Also, he posed for a picture with me and my brother (he's a totally avid fan, he played teenager of the year so much that he came dangerously close to ruining it!) I was planning to blow that picture up to poster size and hang it on the wall so that I can have something to smile about everyday of my tedious 9-5 life. I think that would still bring a smile to my face when I'm 90. Only now am I able to talk about the fact that my pictures didn't turn out even remotely. I am so distraught! The only thing that makes me laugh is that when I asked Black Francis to pose with us I actually said "Come on Pilgrim" to him. I meet Frank Black and that's what I had to say? Signed, Distraught Carolyn

Carolyn, that definitely sucks, but you could always digitally add yourself into one of the band pics. "Yeah, I toured with Charles back in the day... <lean back, lock hands behind your head>. But I decided I couldn't handle the fans anymore." I'm sure the memory will last forever, and you know what they say about memories: a memory's worth a thousand pictures - without the memory, a picture might as well be a postcard... or a digitally altered picture.
Well, they don't say that, but they should. I say it, I guess. Copyright 2003 Cult Of Frank. |

Thanks cult of Ray, but its not quite the same. I think I'll be kicking myself in the ass for a long time. I have such bad luck. A couple of years ago I saw Radiohead for the Bends tour at the U of A (again thats the University of Alberta for all you IBs.) Super small venue and after the show after we left they came out to meet everyone! |

I feel your pain, sister. When I saw FB in April 2001 - I took a shitload of GREAT pictures and not a one came out. Was a very sad day, indeed. |

At the beginning of Bone Machine, doesn't he say "This is a song for Carol". That's what I like to think anyways. Close enough. |

I always thought that was what he says - so good choice! |

Yes ma'am, he does say "this is a song for Carol". In fact, you could alter Cult of Frank's (ludicrous) story somewhat and say that the song is in fact for YOU, and YOU are into Japanese fast food and Frank drops YOU off at YOUR Japanese lover and YOU'RE going to the beach all day and YOU'RE so pretty when YOU'RE unfaithfull to him... hmm... you're kind of a ho, huh? I mean, you make him give you a lift to the dude you're sneaking around with? That's pretty poor "sneaking around" Carol. I'm thoroughly disgusted by your disgust-worthy behaviour. I don't think we should speak anymore. Our love is no longer rice and beans and horses lard. I'm starting to think it never was.... |
