There is no denying the awesomeness of Ween. I've been listening to White Pepper and the Mollusk for three straight days and they are amazing. I'm really Blown Away. |

Top 5, huh? 1:Old Smashing Pumpkins. (Gish.) 2:Failure. (In case anybody doesn't know them, they sang "Stuck on You" and "Pitiful" back in the mid-90's. That was the only radio play I'm aware they had.) 3:Underworld. (Techno band, but very diverse and VERY good.) 4:Nine Inch Nails. 5:Old R.E.M. (Life's Rich Pageant, Fables of the Reconstruction, and Document.)

It's weird, if you go out on SoulSeek (into the indie chat room. I know, I'm a geek...), there seems to be a lot of Interpol hate out there. I don't get it. Sure, they've gotten a lot of hype, but it's not like they're the Strokes or something where they've been tagged as the saviours of rock (along with the White Stripes). Interpol made a really great record. And I hear one more person mention Joy Division, I might lose it. Also, don't mention pitchfork on SoulSeek. It's like mentioning you are casually affliated with a neo nazi group. They don't take too kindly to you. |

Mmmm...
Sonic Youth - their relase of Dirty is Excellent. The Ziggens - surf/country/punk an essential combination. Bargain Music - see sublimearchive.com for some great bootlegs Dropkick Murphys - from Boston. Should make some of ye happy. Stormtroopers of Death - When you need something heavier.
(was gonna mention others but they had already been put down - no point in repeating) |

Bit of shameless plugging... 1,2,3 and the Fours are my new band - never before have I been in such esteemed company! Do you like the name?

Jesus and Mary Chain (Pixies covered one of their songs "Head On") Sleepy Jackson Flaming Lips Faith No More (showing my age!) Calexico Lambchop PJ Harvey Nirvana The La's Wilco Orbital Turin Brakes Sparklehorse Mazzy Star Johnny Cash Smashing Pumpkins Teenage Fanclub (have recorded with Frank Black, supported the Pixies at the SECC in Scotland) Coldplay (I feel like I should apologise for liking them, but I do) The Fall Sugar (Beaster is the album to get, rest hasn't aged well) Inspiral Carpets Oasis Scud Mountain Boys Jim White Smiths Underworld Belle and Sebastien Mercury Rev Joy Division/New Order Love (only Forever Changes is really worth getting) Bob Dylan David Bowie Rolling Stones (pre 1976) Manu Chao Grant Lee Buffalo Stone Roses Royal Trux Spiritualized Beach Boys Bonnie Prince Billy (get "Ease Down The Road") Supergrass Tricky ("Maxinquaye") Strokes Van Morrison White Stripes Urge Overkill Sonic Youth ("Dirty" is the best place to start) Corb Lund Band
All these bands are amazing and you'll never regret buying any of their albums, unless you then listen to it and decide it's shit.

Sorry to have to be the first to tell you this but your bands name is really bad. Good luck though and hey The Beatles is a really bad name but they didn't do badly did they
Then again The Pixies isn't a great name either |

Can't believe i missed someone mentioning Stellastarr. How much of them have you heard ? I have only heard 'Somewhere across forever' and 'My Coco' but they are both excellent and i can see where the Pixies comparisons have been coming from, though they also remind me of Talking Heads (as is also being mentioned in the music press). Going to see them in Manchester on 20th of this month so i should get a better idea of what they are like then. They are also playing London Highbury Corner Garage on 21st and Glasgow King Tut's on 19th. Plus they suppost Ash at Edinburgh Corn Exchange on 18th. And if you can't catch them there then they are appearing at Reading/Leeds festival as well so check 'em out if you can.

1)Limblifter 2)Liz Phair (can't stand her new cd) 3)Indochine 4)Nada Surf 5)Northern Pikes (loved them since '87)
I don't get all the love for Sleater Kinney . I bought one of their cd's a few years ago and could find nothing appealing about it. |

Sleater Kinney are wonderfull. Check out "One Beat". Fantastic record. Forget Limblifter, and go for Kurt Dahle's (go SK!) current band, The New Pornographers. Much better. And forget the Pikes. Nostalgia and locality do not a good artist make. Just look at Wide Mouth Mason. |

Ok I tried the song 'One Beat'...her voice is still grating. Love the New Pornographers but they don't make my top 5, maybe I've overplayed them to death.
Ween are awesome, just got into them this year. |
