I was just wondering. I suspect it would be a fairly broad range. List 5 other random bands (non Pixies related) that you really like. Here are mine
- Fugazi - The Clash - At The Drive-In - The Cancer Conspiracy - Mudhoney |

Aside from the Pixies and Frank and Catholics....
Stephen Malkmus/Pavement Modest Mouse/Ugly Casanova The Rolling Stones Neil Young Beck
its really hard to only do five, though, so I am still unsure but those are way way up there.
I've heard a lot of noise, so I'm going to the stereo store, to get a white noise maker and turn it up to ten. |

my top 5, in no order
1. Nirvana 2. Frank Black/Pixies 3. Sonic Youth 4. Beach Boys 5. fluctuates (I reserve 5 for the bands that I fall in love with for periods of time, then fall in love with another band. I would say Beatles, but I don't think they're in my top 5) |

Not really a 'Top 5' list. More like what would probably make up Side A of a mix tape right now.
Soft Boys Big Star the Mommyheads Gary Numan Smiths

5 is tough.. I'd say you could exchange Elvis Costello, They Might Be Giants, Ramones and a few others with anyone on my list.. they're all about equal to me.. all top picks. |

You're refering to The Seatbelts, the crazy Japanese jazz band right? I own a soundtrack that they did, it is really quite good. Any album recommendations? |

mine...
Swervedriver Enon Brainiac Adrian Belew The Jesus Lizard
I could never put any of my favorites in order, but there's the first I thought of.
Special note...ALL FRANK FANS SHOULD CHECK OUT ENON. Not necessarily because they sound like Frank, they're just brilliant. |

weezer old?
what's wrong with the new?
Well the green album wasn't that good...(crappy production) But I think Maladroit wasn't that bad (a few not so great songs, but Dope Nose, Keep fishin',Slob and Space Rock are truly precious)
But here are mine:
1 Weezer (old and new) 2 Guided By Voices 3 Throwing Muses 4 That Dog/Anna Waronker 5 Kinks

Good selection benji, nearly the same as mine, but I've posted too many of these lists so I'll leave it at that.....

I wouldn't call it a top 5 because I move around a lot between about 10-15 bands, the above is just what I've listened to this week really. Pixies in between of course.

Well, of course there's Frank Black & The Catholics, and of course there's The Breeders, but are there no Spoon fans out there? They're fantastic, pick an album and go, it doesn't even matter which one. Of course, there are other bands too, but I won't impress you all with my excellent musical tastes. :) |

Pixies fans should check out the Jesus and Mary Chain - best albums are "Psychocandy" and "Automatic", though everyone's got their own favourite. The Pixies covered a JAMC tune called "Head On" on Trompe le Monde. The JAMC are probably the best band ever after the Pixies.
