Hey, gotta love beaches.
Where are the best beaches you all have gone to? I'm really interested in this, so please, tell me everything about it if you will.
I think my favorites so far were some pink sand beaches on random sand bars and cayes along Harbour Island, Eleuthera and Spanish Wells in the Bahamas. They're all very different and most have shallow reefs and nearby caves.
I'd really appreciate any responses from fellow Floridians, too :D

good topic.
i live in Venice Beach which i like.. i have to say that the absolute best beaches i've ever been to were in Kauai. just about every beach on that island is perfect. warm, clear blue waters and spotless white sands..
and there's a "secret beach" there too, which is probably my favorite of all time. but i can't tell you much about it because it's a secret.
i hear great things about the beaches in Mexico (like in Y TU MAMA TAMBIEN) and in Thailand.. i'll have to wait till i save some more money for that.

I once went to a wonderful small beach near Puerto Escondido (Mexico) where there were only the 4 of us and two people in a small cabin selling fish, and when we ordered some the guy jumped in his boat, went fishing and cooked us what he had just taken. The best thing I've ever eaten. It's my own secret place...

There is a beautiful beach on the island of St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands called "Chocolate Hole" the water is like crystal and the fish there are beautiful. The soft, white sand is amazing!
happy are my mind and my soul and my heart |

I haven't been since 1990, but Bermuda has some wonderful beaches.
The Outer Banks in North Carolina are fairly decent.

Well, my favorite local beach is Wingaersheek in Glochester, MA. It is almost like a water park - as the tides go out all the sandbars and rocks create very deep places where you can jump in and tidal pools where kids can swim. It's a lovely beach.
For a far away place - the Amalfi Coast in Italy is GORGEOUS!! |

Ah.. this is such a good idea. now, where ever i go.. i'll know of beaches there :) anyway, like i said, my favorite beaches SO FAR are islands off of eleuthera in the bahamas. they're all pink sand and gorgeous. if you get a chance to go, make sure you have a boat available (you can rent one) because there's nothing like having a whole island for yourself in the middle of no where.
anyway, where is kauai? also, do you mean venice beach in florida or the other one which is more famous but i can't remember where it is?
that chocolate hole place sounds NICE.. since i'm such a caribbean fanatic, maybe i'll try hitting up the virgin islands one of these summers :)

The beaches in Hawaii were very beautiful (Maui especially), but I like some surf, so my prize goes to a public beach just to the south (?) of the Hilton in Cancun. Great white sand (sticks to everything, but it's paradise - who cares?!) nice waves for body surfing or real surfing or just listening to while the Pixies' cover of "Evil Hearted You" plays softly in the background. But then again, I live in a land-locked Canadian province, what do I know about beaches? |

the Hawaiian islands have some of the best surfing anywhere in the world.. maybe you just went to some of the wrong beaches..
whatever you do, if you're in Hawaii and you find a deserted cave with a small wooden figurine in it, don't take it home and make a necklace out of it. just ask Bobby Brady. |

True, the North Beach on Maui had a bit too much of a good thing - so much surf we couldn't even go in the water. Forgot about it because I didn't go swimming there that day.
... if anybody needs me, I'll be on the farm with a piece of grass dangling precariously from my mouth. |
