Of course I was expecting the unexpected from the man himself, but I do have to say that I was beyond amazed when I left the tiny Beachland Ballroom and tavern. Sweaty and essentially "spent" from rocking OUT to Frank for two hours non-stop, I was definitely not ready for the night to end.
He did a few Pixies songs: "Gouge Away", "Monkey Gone to Heaven", and he ended his explosive performance with "Cactus", which he blew the fucking ROOF off with! He also noted that he loved coming to and playing this spot in Cleveland.
All I can say is that if I could have spent two YEARS listening to him play I would have been there and NEVER grown tired of what I heard. Frank is without a doubt, the most AMAZING performer I have seen in a long time, and perhaps ever. His stage presence alone is enough to draw a crowd.
The best part about the show? He wasn't about any bullshit, he was all about rocking out with his fans and playing these songs like they were MEANT to be played.
Two words to sum up my evening? "Fuck YEAH!"

Hell, I hadn't read the concert reviews lately, as there were so many posted at the same time, but this one IS really cool. Thanks, Speedy Marie.

I was also at the 3/24 cleveland show and it was incredible. Frank was in a great mood laughing with the band and teasing the crowd. The exact opposite of his last appearence here which occurred about a week after all his equipment was stolen. At that DITS show, he got into a bird flip-off with a photog who had climbed a speaker stack. This led him to walk off in the middle of the first song (nimrod's son) leaving the band looking puzzled until they all wandered off stage. He returned some minutes later and launched back into nimrod, but the rest of the show was about as mellow as a catholic show could be.
Last night, he was laughing from the get-go. Scared me when he cut off the 2nd song midverse to get more drums in his monitor. After an adjustment he picked up 666 right where he left off, but not before teasing the crowd that the song was now ruined for him. They played pretty much the same songs as the rest of the tour in a different order. They played a 5 song encore with Jack Kidney of the numbers band joining the last three songs on harmonica and sax. Frank said Kidney is playing with the band on the new material they are recording for next cd.
The band played with fire, a truly great show.
