according to the NME.. not sure if its readers votes or journalists votes, but doolittle came second to the Stone Roses 'Stone Roses'
so there you go... it should be in NME tomorrow and probably on NME.com soon or now... |

And it is vastly superior to the Stone Roses album - still, number 2 is not bad! |

Some songs on Bossanova are showing thier age while Doolittle is timeless. I think Doolittle came in at 56 or so in an all time greatest ablums thingy on Channel 4 a couple of years ago with the Stone Roses at number one as well, it's a good album but not that fucking good, especially the backwards guitar bits, Hendrix did it all better.

What kind of a chart was this?? Alt-Rock records of the '90's or something??? Doolittle's great. Second best record ever??? Not a chance. What are those guys on, and how can I get some.... |

The fact that the Stone Roses came in first strips away any credibility this list might have had. |

Sorry guys, I disagree with you, Bossanova is still better than Doolittle.
I looked at the NME website, and found a survey done a few months ago whereby Stone Roses was no.1 and Doolittle was 32 in the best albums of the last 50 years.
Nevermind was in the top ten as well....... but I never was and still am not that impressed by it.

I hate the production of Doolittle. Surfer Rosa all the way. |

Well I guess those NME folks forgot all about the Beatles, Stones, Elvis, Beach Boys, Bowie, Pink Floyd etc....Every list of top records of all time I've ever seen has included something by these artists. The people who came up with that must all be Manchester natives born after 1980..lol
I'll also agree Surfer Rosa is Pixies at their best. Bossanova is still damn good despite the Gil Norton applied gloss, which was big at the time. Doolittle falls somewhere in-between.... |

Love, Forever Changes, at number 6. Strange one, I think it's a great album but I did'nt think it would bother any "all time greatest" list, I did'nt know they were that well know, but I suppose it was a journo's poll.

Thanks for posting the NME link, jo.. Not all that impressive a list, I'd put half in my top100 and the other half in the crapper.. Not that this should turn into a Strokes bash-a-thon, but there is absolutely nothing interesting about them whatsoever. |
