It could have been that god awful version from Reel Big Fish from the Pixies Tribute.

There's a remix of Gigantic by one of those 2manydj's people. Run-DMC vs. the Pixies: "It's Gigantic". |

I noticed "Number 13 Baby" was used for a London based football teams preview on Channel 4's 6 o'clock news in August of 2001. |

I was at the Gap buying blue jeans and I heard "Here Comes Your Man" That kind of surprised me even though it is a popular song - I just didn't expect it. |

I still can't believe that Avril Levigne's drummer pays homage to the Pixies on his bass drum!? Weirdest place I have heard a Pixies tune was probably on Irish tele. Just as the FB fan mentioned earlier in the forum. Very surreal. Didn't believe my own ears for the first couple of listens!
Strummer-man I had me a vision!

I was half-watching a gardening programme (and I have no interest in that subject whatsoever) when I heard the instrumental part of 'Brick is Red' playing on top of some sequence where they were re-arranging stuff. It was so out of place I didn't recognise it until it looped around again...
Another UK programme called The Ronson Mission used to use Velvety as its theme tune.

Right well The Pixies are all over Irish TV. But the weirdist place for me (sorry to bring you to a low point) is one of one of my best friends funerals. Wave of mutilation (UK Surf) and was played on an acoustic, with harp, piano and vocals. It was extra freaky with a solar eclipse going on as well. Weird day, I'll never forget it. Covers of Nirvana, Pearl Jam and others, real beautiful.

Not really the strangest but around 5 years ago I was at a Bad Religion concert in Melbourne and after the support act finished while the roadies spent about half an hour setting up I got to listen to pretty much all of Surfer Rosa which was one of the highlights of the night!

In this weeks issue of Blender magazine there is an article with Spanish Teenie Boppers Las Ketchup. They are HUGE PIXIES FANS!
Also Austrialian teenie bopper Rob Levitt has a song called "PIXIES" on his last albums. One of the lyrics is "FRANK & KIM WOULD NOT BE LEADERS/SO KIM DEAL STARTED THE BREEDERS
Also, there's a band on Grand Royal Records called LADIES WHO LUNCH, they have an album call KIMS WE LOVE and they do all PIXIES covers.
Also, Post-Grunge rock group from Memphis called HAGFISHES have a song called "FRANK BLACK". One of the lyrics is "CHANGE YOUR NAME FROM CHARLES to BLACK/ PLAY YOUR GUITAR AND DON'T LOOK BACK"
You can buy any of these album at your local Record Shop

Good stuff Cactus, here is a bio I found on LWL
Ladies Who Lunch were formed in 1995 by LJ drummer Kate Schellenbach and former Breeders bassist (and currently half of Dusty Trails) Josephine Wiggs. They've released 2 EPs through Grand Royal. 'Kims We Love' which contains 2 covers; "Bull In The Heather" by Sonic Youth (performed by Kim Gordon) and "Gigantic" by The Pixies (performed by Kim Deal), hence the EP title. Second EP, 'Everybody's Happy Nowadays' contains a cover of The Buzzcocks tune of the same name

Here Comes Your Man was on in a J crew outlet. I guess that's not much stranger than the one about American Eagle, but I wanted to add it anyway.

Next Im gonna try and get Rock Music and some Frank. The number of times I've asked for Frank and they've played Debaser, how annoying.
You've done well! I've heard -
Debaser (almost always) Here Comes Your Man Where Is My Mind? Holiday Song Tame - I went mental! Wave Of Mutilation Monkey Gone To Heaven Gigantic
I think that's it. Not too bad a record considering I'm 19 and therefore have only been going to alternative clubs for just over 18 months. It really is 90% Debaser and the otherts once or twice though.

Even worse than that, in this month's Q magazine there's a feature on shit pop-punkers Good Charlotte and one of them is wearing the "Death To The Pixies" t-shirt!

In the movie, Say It Isn't So, there's this scene where the guy is on his way to get his girlfriend back, and they play Here Comes Your Man. Rather fitting. |

Tonite on ER Carter puts on the radio in Abby's car and "Debaser" comes blaring on. Unfortunately Carter is a big wuss and turns it off. |

Holy shit Bohemoth!, thanks for reminding me about your man playing The Pixies in Blossom. I thought I had imagianed that or something, when the guy says "Here Comes Your Man by Black Francis". That was so long ago I thought I had it up! I've heard the Pixies loads of times as background music on tv but I cant remember what most of it was, but most recently on Jack Ass when they had the Gum Ball special and they played Caribou. But I was most suprized when an Irish TV show played a live Pixies video they had of them at the Sundown festival playing Gigantic, I never thought RTE had it in them.

When I saw Fugazi in Calgary, the sound guy played all of Bossanova before the show started, which wasn't 'weird', come to think of it, but unexpected. |

A few years ago, they always played the intro to Letter to Memphis over the footie highlights on Match of the Day, they used some other tracks from Trompe, but Memphis was played week after week, I smell a Pixies fan at the BBC... |
