Regis and Kelly......

Just heard 15 seconds of Debaser during the show when they spin the wheel to pick a prize.

Equally trivial: Some teenage pogoing band (in the No Doubt mould, I suppose) was on Letterman last night and it looked to me that the bass drum had "The Pixies" written on it. I told you it was trivial.

Tough question... Rock Music was played a few weeks ago during a runway fashion show. That's all I can remember right now.

it's got to be jackass on mtv (UK), they haul around a mummy-looking guy on a stretcher, pretend he's all taped up 'cause he's got all broken bones, then he falls off the stretcher in front of people and you watch the spectators' reactions.
while you're watching this, they play pixies "broken face" .brilliant

not very odd or anything but at a foo fighters concert waiting for them to come on, "I can't forget" came on, which is a leonard cohen song i think.

Someone working in Irish TV must have good taste, over the last year TV3 and Network 2 have been using Pixies (and even more bizare, Fugazi)tracks over their program advertisements. It's great to hear the pixies almost every day on terrestrial TV...I hope they're paying the royalties

Hey Dave is the the first offical double post? ;)

Shane Spencer, Outfielder for the New York Yankees. When he comes up to bat they play MONKEY GONE TO HEAVEN on the PA system. If you are watching a YANKEES HOME playoff game be sure to check it out. He is coming off the bench so it might be harder to catch than in years past.

i was going to mention something about that band. not because of the bass drum.. but did you notice how the chord progressions were a total rip off on If It Takes All Night? i swear to god. now that i know they're fans it makes sense..

yeah, their whole presence just had this very made-by-corporate-comittee feel to them.. "ok, so you should wear your hat backwards.. because that's what the young kids are doing these days."

The best example of this surely is at the end of Fight Club?

Ok, here is mine. It was new years eve of 1994-95 and I was drivng around with my girlfriend. She lived in Westwood(since she was at ucla) and KROQ(believe it or not) played them. But it was cool beucase whoever the dj was said, "ok, we are going to play some Pixies for Dave in LA becuase he says that he is going to kill himself if he doesnt hear the Pixies as the year ends! Here it is Dave! The Pixies"! anyway, they played Is She Weird? 1 minute before 1994 ended! i thought that was odd, because kroq never played the Pixies.

Yes

In the comic book store you can hear it in the back ground. It is sort of low sounding.

i've been tired is in the scene where Bruce Willis goes to a comic book store. it's supposed to be playing in the store.. that was cool.

there are actually a bunch more in films but i can't think at the moment..

"Singles" had Dig For Fire in it. and there's "Pump Up The Volume" with Wave Of Mutilation (UK Surf Version)...

i know there's more..

they used to play Monkey Gone To Heaven and Here Comes Your Man when I was in High School.. like, around 90, 91..

and there were a couple of times when Frank came and guest DJ'd on Jed The Fish's show (Jed was always a big supporter).. he guest DJ'd when "Frank Black" first came out and played some songs solo, acoustic: Czar, Brackish Boy, something else..

i remember he played some Bowie (John I'm Only Dancing), Reverend Horton Heat (can't remember), and Buzzcocks (can't remember at the moment)..

at one point Jed tried to put on Monkey Gone To Heaven and Frank stopped it after like 5 seconds, scratching the record and everything.. it was pretty funny. Jed was just trying to fuck with him because that's when he was in his strict anti-talking-about-Pixies phase..

Here in the UK on Sky Sports Nationwide coverage, they would show goals from the previous week over these goals they played cecilia ann and during the analysts views on the important bits of a live game they had a edited version of lovely day playing. With no vocals. Home Front has also played Cecilia ann. Pointless.

....I visit alternative clubs on a regular basis and I always try to get a pixies song played. Normally I only get the regulars heres what I've managed so far.

Debaser
HCYM
Monkey Gone To Heaven
Motorway To Roswell
Alec Eiffel
Planet Of Sound
River Euphrates
Bone Machine

Next Im gonna try and get Rock Music and some Frank. The number of times I've asked for Frank and they've played Debaser, how annoying.

He wrote a song called "Pray for the Girls", and is featured on their cartoon soundtrack, "Heroes and Villains" :

'Pray For The Girls' was also used in the closing credits for the Powerpuff Girls movie.

Craig McCracken needs to sound off.

Okay dudes, so I am in complete agreement with Bill Hicks on all advertising being the work of Satan; but when it comes to what used to be my blood group (smirnoff/caffine postive) I have no greater accomplishment than when my best friend - who if you cut her in half would have Essex written all the way through (think valley girl equivalent) - leaping up and saying "WOW! They have a pixies Song!"

I think I got her with the line "fall on your face in those bad shoes"

(She's the same blood group as I was - in fact we became Smirnoff sisters, but that's enough about those days)

Did anyone else get that advert in their area? Or was that just another hallucination?

Get this:
I saw Camper Van Beethoven the other week at the Knitting Factory. Opening was Dave Lovering (ex-Cracker drummer, et al) doing the scientific experimentalist show. Before he went on, the club played "Bone Machine" - (because that's.. THE DRUM SONG) - pretty funny, and looking around to see how many registered the connection... um.. there wasn't any...
