if you check out the pere ubu website.....frank black is playing a solo acoustic set this friday....other bands there include dave thomas' band........theyre playing UCLA......damn....why dont i just pack my bags already and make the move to LA already......i'm missing out on a hell of a lot of good shows......dang

Linda Thompson cancelled. I think Georgia Hubley of Guided By Voices is filling in (though there was talk of getting Debbie Harry or Syd Straw.)
Frank will be accompanied w/pedal steel & drums, so I would imagine that Scott & Dave P. will be on hand for the Friday night show.

Yeah, I know she is. Duh. Sorry, Itchload--I been up since 5 and my brain has turned to jello.
floop, the show/opera Mirror Man (in which Frank plays a role) is Saturday night, but his solo show is Friday night as part of a cabaret kind of thing with other performers (Caligari's Diner). You get to see him either way, but in somewhat different capacities. If I had to choose between the two, I'd pick Mirror Man b/c it would be unlike anything you've ever seen him do before.

yeah, no, everythings good. sorry i didn't respond.. thanks for the info.
i actually emailed Dave Thomas himself and he kindly responded.. so it's all good..
i'd love to go to both, but opted to go on Saturday because:
a.) the price is kind of steep actually (30 bucks per night).
b.) tonight he's only playing a 1 hour set.. (which, if i hadn't seen him a zillion times recently, would still be worth it.. but i've kind of been spoiled with Frank lately..)
c.) i'm having a going-away party for myself. and only i'm invited, so if i don't show up, it'll be quite rude, and conspicuous..
and d.) as much as i'd love to go to both, having to choose i'm more curious about the Mirror thing.. should be interesting.
i'll definitely give my full theatre review after Saturday..
